Which is safer for home use? Which is better for cooking?

>> No.15945847

Electric is safer, there's a reason most landlords opt for it, so rentcucks don't burn down the building.

Gas is better for cooking, more control over heat.

Both are equally safe if you don't live in some third world shithole and you actually maintain your residence.
Gas is better for cooking.

>> No.15945879

Gas is better for cooking. There is literally no argument. Anyone who says otherwise is just coping because they have electric and can't afford to have gas installed or can't actually have gas installed.

I think gas is too dangerous for residential. The government should ban gas stoves for safety and for the environment. Electric is also a bit too dangerous. They really should require those safety burners as well.

Which is probably why so many electric stoves shut off automatically. The only one I've used that didn't was a shitty one from the '70s. You certainly can get that with a gas stove, or with a 3rd party peripheral, but I don't think I've ever been in the same kitchen as one.

My point from the get-go was just that it's easier for dumbasses to be actively stupid with a device that produces fire.

flawed logic bruh. those images you might've seen online of people jumping through fire and lighting themselves on fire in a car filled with hairspray (nerve gas) was just plain idiocy.

if someone is teetering around dangerous materials or circumstances, and their fight or flight response isn't blinking on standby in the back of their heads, then they're lucky to be alive already. open fire SHOULD tell you to be fucking careful. the only concern is not knowing that if you leave a valve open or can't detect the smell of natural gas then you're liable to blow something up. knowledge should be shared, not hoarded...

I kinda doubt that's the reason. Every townhouse I've seen for example already has gas lines for heating, but none of them have had gas stoves. I don't imagine the lines to the stoves would've been much of an issue to have installed.

I think electric stove is much more safer. Here, where most people use gas stove, explosion and death caused by misuse of refilling the gas are much more common. If I can exchange my current gas stove with electric, I would do so.

For better cooking side, I'm not sure, but I think both serves the same purpose and I may not understand the difference between these two.

>> No.15950774

Gas stoves should just be the norm. I get the argument for induction, but it’s nice to actually see the flame and get a better understanding of how it’s heating. Natural gas is not sustainable but biogas is a thing.

I've had several "accidents" with shitty electric burners and zero with gas. pretty much all of them were from not being able to tell if a burner is actually on or not aside from looking at the knob. a bunch of times I will try to turn an element on to boil some water or something but accidentally turn the wrong one on and end up burning whatever was on the one that actually got hot. with gas you can easily tell which burner is on because there's fucking flame coming out of it.

>> No.15951244

If we’re talking about stovetops then gas is better for cooking obviously, since it has fast responsiveness and greater degrees of control. It also allows you to use things like a round bottomed wok, and gas stoves are capable of higher heat output.

Electric does have its benefits though. It’s safer as others have mentioned, but it’s also far simpler to use, you don’t have to worry about stability of pots and pans since it’s an even surface and it’s extremely easy to clean.

With that said, if we’re talking about gas vs electric ovens, then electric is far superior. It heats more evenly, produces drier heat which is great for roasting, is much more precise for baking and is just easier to use.

There’s also induction hobs, which a lot of people say are better than gas, since they offer the benefits of electric + even better responsiveness than gas and faster heating. You can’t use all types of pots and pans though and they’re expensive.

I suppose the ideal would be to have a mix of an induction/gas stovetop with electric ovens.
