He can't decide if he's making recipe videos or just cooking videos, as he often skips steps or retroactively says something should be done. Might as well be making instagram "recipes" that are meant to be solely look good, as ain't nobody is doing that shit. Plus he's obnoxious as fuck.

Meanwhile Ragusea has a wife and kids and fucking understands nobody wants to clean 50 dishes, nobody wants to spend five hours to make a single portion, nobody wants to go buy an ingredient from a local store that they only want to use for 1 dish and would have to make it 200 times to use it all up. Once you got the ingredients and equipment you can follow his vids easy with only pausing. Frequently mentions substitutes, frequently mentions the purpose of the ingredients, frequently mentions that shit is optional (and unlike Weissman it's actually optional instead of creaming yourself over how this "optional" ingredient makes the dish so much better).

You can't actually know how many people used a recipe, but I'm fucking sure that on average Ragusea's are made an order of magnitude more often and they probably are fucked up way less too. Babish and Weissman are basically food bloggers.

Chef John is an amazing home cook, I watch his videos for inspo all the time. Techniques are more important recipes anyway, the "recipe" depends on what is fresh near you, what you can get, and what you have.
Alton Brown is probably the most competent chef that could appeal to gen z.

Youtube is a great platform for recipes, especially for learning something like making a dry caramel. No more "Oh, get it kind of dark but not TOO dark". Just "Cook it so it looks like this, then stop, you fuck." It's so much easier to teach people, especially people who rarely cook.
