What kind of "European" are you? Because America's affinity for baked sweets comes from the fact that America's food comes from European baked goods, such as those from Germany, the UK, and France.

Also, people who eat Pop-Tarts for breakfast are generally school children, if you couldn't tell by the cartoonish packaging, it's market for kids and is found in shopping centers alongside things like Gushers, Fruit Roll Ups, Dunkaroos, etc.
