Reminder that you're retarded if you order food direct from the Mcdonalds app or any fast food app. The food inside is already ready and literally takes 2 min to prepare.

Although the coupons on the app are legit, you are kissing their ass if you pre-pay them through the app.

>> No.15884809

Huh?

The app gives me coupons and lets me customize easily.
And they don't charge you until you actually pick up your food.

the app is free and gives you "great deals" with coupons because you, the user, are the product.
everything you choose, what time you purchase it, how much you spent, your age, sex, location etc is all just data mining.
because raw data is more valuable than actually selling you a burger these days.

I went to McDonald's last night, and absolutely used the app to make my order. It's the year 2021 and I'm not living in the past. I got a Filet-O-Fish combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. I was eating it in my vehicle in the parking lot and listening to an audiobook when I glanced up and saw the McDonald's worker I received my food from outside having a cigarette.

She waved at me and I nodded and had to wait 7 minutes before she went back inside and I could eat in comfort again. I don't think that employees should be bothering or even trying to socialize with customers outside of the McDonald's restaurant or drive through, but that is another story.

I used the app again tonight too and got a McChicken combo with a bacon cheeseburger on the side. As I was driving to the second window the same girl was still working. She was acting somewhat obsequious and attempting small talk when she asked, 'why don't you come eat inside instead of in the parking lot where it is cold'. For the record, I am from a conservative state, so eating inside isn't taboo like in some liberal shithole.

That request really bothered me for many reasons. First of all, I don't want my routine or actions to be tracked by a fast food employee. Secondly, she should not try to tell me how I should live my life. I do not want to eat inside because I find it less comfortable and would much rather be inside my vehicle listening to an audiobook and enjoying myself and my privacy.

Overall, I think it was very unprofessional to bring this up. I should have a clean slate with each drive through visit, not have to get the third degree because I committed some sort of faux pas. Which I don't think I did, because I often see people eating in fast food parking lots. How does she know I am not busy going to work or somewhere in a rush?

So /ck/, how do you feel about eating in your vehicle in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant versus eating inside the restaurant?

I exclusively use the app to order my food from MDs Since my location has closed entering the place, your options are: Curbside pick up or drive through.

Almost every time I have been there it has been faster to do curbside pick up. I get coupons, I get to properly customize my order (I have had none of my orders messed up since using the app), and I don't have to talk to anyone. Before the store was closed to dine in, I typically would get my food before other people who entered at the same time did.

So why is using the app useless then? Are you a schizo?

Ordering through the app is the secret way to actually getting a freshly cooked burger at McDicks. If you customize a burger item with the "salt: none" option, they have to make it to order because every other patty is salted as it cooks on the grill so it can be ready for customers in the way you're describing, sitting around waiting to be put on a bun.

EVERY SINGLE TIME
I have asked for no salt through the app, the burger literally has juice almost seeping out of the wrapper from how fresh it was made.

Every 5 Coffees I get, I get a free coffee (this is a general deal) and also with the purchase of any coffee I can get a free breakfast item (morning) or bakery item (anytime). That one is targeted. My coworkers never see the 2nd deal, ever, because they don't get breakfast/bakery items ever. Some mornings I can get a free coffee, with free espresso adds, and a free cinnamon roll. That is my point, in the end they will always benefit more than the consumer or else they wouldn't be doing it. Even if they somehow dont profit off of the sale, they profit off of the perceived earnings reflected in their stock valuation.

You are also giving them your behavior as data, when and where you buy, what you buy. Even without location data they can tell based on the locations you order from. You also have to trust they aren't doing anything with data like contacts and anything in your storage which they have access to when you accept permissions. I'm pretty sure many of these types of apps don't work unless they allow for notifications, and that advertisement on one of your most used devices alone has lots of value. All of it adds up to being worth way more than the 2$ or whatever discount you get when you get a combo

They wouldn't exist if the consumer benefitted more than they did. You can remain completely anonymous and use the app if you want.

They want you to use the app less because of data collection and more because it lowers the investment required to order food and when people go through their phones there's a mcdonalds logo. Same reason drive throughs exist and they have the giant signs.

Most of their data collection is the exact same data they collect without the app.
