Make a simple sauce of cider, finely chopped bacon and shallots, don't be scared of seasoning properly with salt and pepper.take care not to over cook the seafood, and serve with French fries. Delicious!

hmm this is intriguing, and now that you mention it it does remind me of something saw on Townsends once. Some sort of oyster sauce for steak which i think was similar

It's called moules bretonnes, really simple and a nice change from the standard marinara you get in restaurants all the time

If you've not had marinara before then definitely go for it. It's a classic

3 oz of meat with 8(?) oz of pasta, 2 oz of vegetable chunks, 2 oz of water (some in pasta). Add 1 oz variance for spices/herbs and human error. 7 fucking oz of shells.

Shells sell pasta, unfortunately. God I hate pasta mixed with un-schucked seafood. And mussels are like the Walmart of seafood, might as well eat a barnacle.

Bang up a paella or make a mussel pie.

I can't eat shellfish, but can eat octopus, so maybe make some calamari instead.

This. Cider is good, white wine is good, even a beer like lager. Shallots, maybe a bit of garlic, bouquet garni, pop a lid on and steam them for a few minutes. Serve with French fries

Buy fresh mussels next time, anon. Even in Leafistan, I pay like $6 for a 3 lb bag of live mussels (enough protein for two meals or a starter for more), and they are super easy to cook.

Like >>15886461 said, you can make a simple broth and then steam them for like two minutes. Serve with crusty bread and you've got a simple fast meal, impressive for people who don't cook much.

My favorite broth is made with fresh chorizo, chili powder, cayenne, garlic, and cilantro in white wine.
