OP your entire platter looks like 1/2 cup of oil was used in combined amount of food. You could have gone for the non fried rice with such a sauce soaked fried main. Orange chicken is served with simple steamed broccoli for a reason.

If I get chinese, gonna get a combination of a nice soup, like a bok choy filled special won ton, or simple hot n sour or egg drop, because most of the time I am sick if I am ordering Chinese as delivery and want the soup and basic rice for day 1, and whatever else I get is likely for my planned leftovers, a 2nd meal and to make the delivery worthwhile for the driver. With the soup, I will get pork eggroll or chinese spareribs, maybe a rumaki or shumai, my go 2 mains are moogoo gai pan or a mushroom egg foo young w/ white rice. If my favorite restaurants that I know is top quality, honey chicken or twice cooked szechuan pork, both of those are fine w/ fried rice. Side of pureed chili sauce, to dab on the side my plate to kick a few bites up a bit, esp if sick, for the vitamin C and clear the nose.
Hot tea, oolong or jasmine tea. A simple whole orange for dessert.

Mongolian beef is the real test. Steak is one of their most expensive ingredients, so if they're going to cheap out on anything, it'll be that. Good Mongolian beef should be cuts of flank steak. If it tastes like dog food, you're in a shitty restaurant. You could get the same litmus test with beef & broccoli.

If I'm in a new place that I've never been before, I usually order "General Tso's". This is a basic universal find-it-everywhere chinese dish. If they fuck this up, then chances are the rest of the menu probably isn't very good either. if it's good, I'll be back and try something else next time.
