If you mean the southern thai curries you see at 95% of thai restaurants outside thailand, they were all created by French colonial chefs in the early 20th century, kek. The northern/jungle curries are much closer to "traditional" thai curry and you'll never see non-thai people ordering any of them, with the exception of Khao Soi, which is still very much a fusion dish, not traditional at all in its modern form with elements of like 3 different cuisines present. It is ridiculous to compare any south asian or indian/pakistani curries to jap curry.
