If you believe that then you've never actually had fine dining and have simply eaten at tourist trap steakhouses. Actual fine dining is expensive for a reason. Presentation is a big part of it, but you are definitely paying for quality. I worked two years on the line of a Michelin starred restaurant (not naming names) and the difference in the products used, and the skills you need, are astronomical. I basically had to learn how to farm, they grow pretty much all of their own vegetables and fruits and herbs, and raised and slaughtered their own pigs, chicken, and cattle. You know how many times I had to get up bumfuck early and go fishing with the chef, because he wanted to do some fucking fish thing? I actually quit eventually because I got sick of playing Farmer Brown with some asshole with stupid fucking facial hair, but the quality of the ingredients in the dishes we made was incredible. Compare that to my fried chicken shack: I get all of my shit from Costco.
