these all look delicious to me. i only have a small supermarket by me and cbf getting the subway to the fancier/big one, so when i buy olives, maybe once a month, i get pimento stuffed green ones: use in salads, occasiobally wraps - sometimes in hoagie roll sandwiches, with ham, mayo, cheese, tomato etc.

Just discovered muffuletta, don't even like olives, too strong on their own, but this stuff is amazing. What are some other things I should try so I can learn to love olives.

i used to work in a sandwich shop run by an italian from NJ. He'd make a lightly grilled sammich with this with ham, mortadell, provalone and another type of cheese, red peppers, olive oil. Shit was pretty cash.

I get that. When I was younger, the first time I ate a green olive stuffed with pimento I legit freaked out because of how salty it was. But now that I'm a 30 year old boomer I fucking love them.

Same with black olives, they legit have a metallic taste but that's the exact reason I enjoy them, it's weird but I just go with it.

I just eat them straight from the jar most of the time. Sometimes I'll cut up some cheese and have them along with that and crackers.

>>15816509
I have them with pasta. I'll mix cheese into it (not a lot) or dressing or sometimes mayo but I add other veg too.

for me it's these, comes in a big jar for fairly cheap. Apparently alla calce means they're in a lime(not the fruit) brine. They remind me of cerignola olives

Cheese stuffed olives always remind me of my older brother when I was a little girl. He had phimosis and an insane amount of smegma. Sucking it out for him so it wouldn't become infected. A cheese stuffed olive hovering in front of my mouth menacingly always reminds me of cock. Haha.

That's what my grandma said and she was right. Don't take the stones out or you lose flavour. Go fro the ones that have only salt added and nothing else. Based Greek gramdma.

>> No.15819457

>>15819443
I trust your Greek grandma, thanks for the tip. One thing, when you take it from the jar, do you eat around the stone and then spit the stone out? Or do you remove the stone and then eat the whole thing?

>>15819457
yes

>> No.15821281

>>15819443
i agree, pitted olives just taste like brine in comparison, i figure its due to surface area and the inside being more permeable
>>15819457
remove stone if its going in a dish, spit stones out if im binging them straight from the jar

>> No.15821443

>>15819457
Same anon. My grandma takes a bite of a hunk of bread then pops an olive in her mouth. The trick is to extract the flesh in your mouth and then spit out the pip. The bite of food lessens the salty hit and mingles with the food to create the perfect balance. Grandma taught us well.

She doesn't take out the stones even when adding to bread or stews because they lend flavour. If you break your teeth on them then she has no sympathy unless you're foreign because (i paraphrase and translate the expression) 'you don't know any better/don't get it'.
