Why can't people take cooking advice? They always get really mad no matter what it is

All of my burgers get the four point spatula press, and I cook them mid well, and they're always still insanely juicy. I do them up in a cast iron skillet with just a little butter, and I let the patties rest a bit before I assemble my daily lunch. Picrel

People can't take critique anymore. It's "toxic" and they like to "cut toxic people out of their lives" (read: actual toxic behavior). You have to sandwich real feedback between two slices of faux praise.
"Ah, that looks delicious! If you don't press it as much, it'll be even juicier. Either way though, I'm jealous of that burger."
"Hey, that smells good! Maybe add a little more season and it would be *heaven*. Just make enough for me next time because now you're making me hungry!"

Are you really condescending/have a shitty tone when you say it? I used to have someone who would constantly “advise” me in the kitchen, and the advice was alright but they just had the worst delivery of it that immediately grated my nerves when they said it, and it was always something to bitch about when they never put in any work. Otherwise they just have a real problem be critiqued

"Sandwich style" feedback annoys the fuck out of me. It's not honest and very roundabout. I come across this in writing all the time. It's gotten to the point where when I ask for feedback on my piece, I specifically mention caring mostly about what I can improve instead of what I did well.
>>15814438
Except it's true. People aren't as honest anymore for the sake of not offending people... telling someone how to improve at something should not be offensive unless you're doing it like Gordon Ramsay.

I mean, I once suggested to my step-father that seasoning the flour, or even just the meat a bit, when he was making fried chicken might make it taste better.

He got the whole house into a fight that lasted for 2 days because "it was gud enough for his mom is good enough for now". Though he'd been smoking since he was 9, I didn't trust his sense of taste; if he had one left.

Pressing your burgers affecting taste is completely subjective. You're not preventing someone from eating raw chicken or something you're giving an opinion and then getting butthurt when someone disagrees with you. If you really seethe because people don't listen to your shit advice I don't know what to tell you except that it's not a societal problem it's just you being a retard.

Not true, in fact the most flavorful burger is a smash burger. Squishing the burger doesn't really fuck up the moisture content all that much and can help to get a nice crust.
>hey, you should season your eggs more

>put balls of meat down and smash them thin and flat
>boomer dad looking on "oh god what are you doing!!!"
>you're going to squeeze all of the flavor out!
>start explaining the maillard effect to him and how these will be just as juicy, cook quicker, and be more flavorful
>boomer brain can't handle it, shuts down stops listening, tells me to make one extra thick for him
>do it so he stops complaining
>after they're cooked he remarks "good thing I told you to make at least one normal burger! This one is plump and juicy"
>everyone else insists the thinner ones are delicious and juicy
>tell him to try it if he doesn't believe us, it's the same sort of patty you'll get at five guys (which he likes)
>refuses to try it, keeps saying how he saved the dinner for himself by insisting on cooking it "right"
This is an example of why I dislike getting "tips" from people.
