What helped me is to eat a small piece of raw chicken every time I cooked it. Not a lot just like a quarter inch sliver with a little salt. This helped me get over the fear of getting sick when you realize nothing happens except maybe a runny stool.

i don't like it because it's cold and leaves residue on your fingers and stuff. i just wear gloves when i'm working with raw meat.

Ive been handling raw seafood and chicken for years, washing hands only between changing between meats of various types and dates, never using gloves. Neither I or anyone I've ever cooked for has gotten sick. Prep your meal properly, wash your hands/utensils only after finishing touching the raw meat, and cook everything to temp, and you'll be fine 100% of the time. Probably 10,000 time more likely to get sick or get pink eye from touching the wrong doorknob, really.

I also dont like touching raw meat. Usually solve this by wearing gloves or using a ziploc bag and putting all the dry ingredients in it and using tongs to transfer the chicken in and out of the bag.
