No, for McDs, managing the fryer baskets is a pretty important thing. If they prep too much product and have it sitting in the warming trays for too long, they have to toss it.

When I worked there we would fry a bunch of chicken close to closing time based on how busy it had been and keep it in the warming area so we didn't have to reclean the fryer. Most times they get mad at latecomers, in fast food places at least, it is related to having to reclean things and making them stay later. The mgmt also gets pissed at overtime hours.
So if someone is maxed out budgeted at 40 hours for the week, that extra time cleaning ends up being free labor off the clock.

Kids and wastoids put up with this shit, because they aren't aware you can't lose your job or even have your hours reduced just because your manager is trying to make their bonus, and it's not your job to feel the pinch from upper management/corporate. Stay clocked in, log your hours, and wait for them to adjust payroll or work you off the clock. Once they've done it a few times, find any attorney and they'll jump on the case. Worst case scenario, you'll never work at that Burger King again and lose your extra 25 cents an hour starting fresh at Wendy's. Best case scenario, a very likely scenario, you get enough money to quit and buy a new car.

I say this having managed before. It was impossible to fire anyone who didn't point blank steal or blatantly milking the clock. And even then, had people stealing and doing drugs out of camera view, working whatever hours they wanted, and towing the line just long enough get past a second writeup lapsing. If I attempted to reduce hours or fire them for it, they filed for unemployment and I got MY ass reamed by corporate and had to fill out a shitton of paperwork, only to find out there was nothing I could do without ironclad proof someone was stabbing babies on shift.

If you've passed your trial period, are doing your work, and they attempt to pull any of that horseshit, outright refuse to put up with it. If they yell at you, build a case for abuse. If they try to fire you, good, get your unemployment, it's probably still worth more than your McJob anyway, and your manager and HIS manager will be the ones to get fucked
