I think you've reached the peak as far as shit near the airport.
I don't go downtown much so I can't speak for how close anything is, but Sushi Boss is probably the best affordable sushi place and is locally owned.
Don't trust the Keystone location, shit gave me food poisoning on friday when I had them for lunch and of all three times ive been to that location the rolls have literally been room temp.
Other than that, Metro Diner? Might be a little out of the way though.

I'm still upset about Mudbugs closing up in Carmel because it was the only place to get decent, real cajun food at a reasonable price. I still don't want to go into Jazz Kitchen. I've heard there's a cajun place like 30 minutes southwest of the airport, but I can't remember the name and I don't think they do anything besides dinner.

From Indiana. We eat biscuits and gravy, hashbrown casseroles, breakfast food, corn casserole, hamburger casserole, mashed potato casserole, green bean casserole, giant breaded pork tenderloin, chicken, beef. Pretty much combine any plant and animal raised here, throw some corn potatoes and gravy in it, and it's a popular casserole. We're also fat so fast food does well here.

There's also a lot of Germans here so I eat a good amount of that food from the Amish. Think sausages and sauerkraut

I too am from indiana and I've only ever experienced classic gratins as casseroles. But I'm from north central indiana so it's different than the bumpkins from the bottom third. People migrated from both ends of the state.
