If you're coming from an American background with light lagers being the most prominent drink I'd recommend trying some cream ales, blonde ales as they are somewhat of a gateway styles to more flavorful beers. Also I'd suggest trying English style beers such as bitters, stouts, irish reds. IPA scene in my opinion is way too oversaturated with shitty brews and finding good ones may be quite hard (and expensive).
I would advise you to return to lagers and even those shitty light lagers when you get some knowledge and tasting experience and then try to find nuances in even the most flavorless beers.
Trying Belgian ales is also a very useful experience since they are completely different from other stuff.

This guy >>15748832 is right about just trying a lot of different beers. He’s wrong about IPA’s though. Some people just like to talk shit about IPA’s because they’re popular. In particular, I’d recommend trying as many beers as possible from your local breweries is there are any near you.

It's weird, I'm always chill af when drinking, but with grolsch I always go a bit nuts. It's like it has a stimulant in it.
Last time I drank grolsch I kidnapped a cat and tried to feed it steak. I woke up with a very pissed off cat in my room. It shat everywhere.

First get addicted to a liter of vodka a day for 10 year's. Realize you'll die if you keep drinking liquour. Realize you go insane if your BAL drops below .02 . then sip 1 cheap light beer every hour starting at 6pm every night to avoid withdrawals. Dont drink any harder than that or else youll hurt too much in the morning to get out of bed before 6pm to start sipping beer.

This virus shit has really stretched me thin m8
