50s/60s food in general always seems off to me. Might be because I strongly prefer the more futurist side of the midcentury aesthetic, but the food always seems to lean more into the pink carpet and floral patterned couch grandma's house look.

In Germany it was very popular in the 60s and 70s, but fell out of fashion soon in the 80s. Today it's only done by old people, those with bad taste in everything cultural or catering services for some reason. Probably to impress the old people, who'd do it the same way.
Stupid gimmicky things like pic related are kinda passé nowadays though.
To be honest i don't see that much of a difference in most canapés although those are not considered trashy, antiquated or a waste of food for some reason.

i hate hospital food, every time without fail it is nearly inedible. everything has been done with the absolute cheapest and bottom of the barrel ingredients and every step of the cooking process has been messed up in some way turning it into some disgusting mush.

i remember when i had rhinoplasty done on me and i had to recover from a 15-hour operation, i only ended up eating the ice cream dessert because that was the only thing resembling actual food in the meal and there was some old and disgusting dude who would just lap that shit up and emit the most disgusting food munching sound i had ever heard. i fucking hated it and couldn't even move for like 2 days.
