I agree with you in principle, but none of those bottles have runes on, they've just got Danish 'Ø's.
Also, who the fuck is impressed by a mead recipe 'from the 1700s'? I bet that stuff is backsweetened trash.

Any mead described as sweet is, by necessity, either backsweetened trash or alcohol-crashed. Otherwise it would explode the bottle.

Also, backsweetening has been a technique in alcohol production since at least Mesopotamia, so I think the Dutch had probably figured it out by the 1700s

Sorry, I forgot I did actually mean to stay on topic as well.
I've tried most the selection from Mjødladen and found them to be probably nice as dessertwines but too sweet to drink in any decent quantity on their own.
I did still sip my way through all of them at the stand at the faire in Odense a few years ago, though. The guy had a whole seller's spiel written down but hadn't learnt it by heart, so he just stood there and read aloud form a laminated sheet about he always offers that one when he has friends over and uses that one to marinade chicken etc.
It was pretty funny.

Retard yeast has abv limits. Its really difficult to get past 20% on straight fermentation.

Its simple math a retard can do. Lbs honey + water -->specific gravity-->%alcohol depending on yeast strain.
