why didn't anyone tell me microwaved potatoes are so good

Sweetpotato and beans, yum.

I could've sworn I told you about this a while ago. You were probably just high on salvia.

I microwaved 2 regular potatoes, a sweet potato and an onion. I stuffed the potatoes with the onion. It was delicious and only took 10 minutes.

If you like them shitty out of the microwave, you'll love them good out of the oven.
They take the slight effort of a longer wait, but if you have even the roughest idea of your meal time that isn't difficult.

>> No.15712898

But I like eating the crispy skin from proper baked potatoes. I have a combi microwave. Microwave, convection oven, broiler. Will only use it if my oven breaks down. But nowadays, I can get a new oven delivered next day.

>> No.15712902

>>15712866
If I were making a roast I'd do them in the oven, but waiting an hour for what equates to a small meal or a snack is not worth it. Microwaved potatoes are 6 times quicker and are still good and satiating.

you can buy a bag to put your potatoes in when you put them in the microwave and it takes 99% the same dude

Have to disagree. Microwaved potatoes can form a chewy skin which in my opinion is superior to my taste is superior. Tastes like a chewy potato chip.

I just poke holes with a fork and wrap them in a moist paper towel. I didn't know they sold bags for microwaving potatoes. Weird.

What about efficiency? Would you heat up a full size oven to bake one or two potatoes? It takes an hour or longer and potatoes leave a lot of wasted space in the oven. Maybe I'll try microwaving them for a few minutes then finishing in the toaster oven for a crispier skin.

>> No.15713353

How do you make them in the microwave?

You can't beat an oven baked potato skin. You can't emulate it with a microwave and toaster oven. The skin is baked. Not microwaved.

What is the point of the oil and salt. The salt needs to go on the insides when it's cooked. The oil, I just don't know.

>> No.15713415

Makes the outside taste good. The oil is just to make it stick to the potato.

Also when the butter melts it all comes together to create a nice little sauce on the bottom of the bowl.

>You can't beat an oven baked potato skin.
How about potatoes wrapped in foil on a campfire? Those are my favorite, but I usually only make them a few times a year. If I'm roasting beets or using the oven for something else I might throw in a few potatoes if I think about it. I would never bake them on their own in the oven because it seems so inefficient. Microwaved ones skins may not be quite as good, but the innards taste the same.

>> No.15713442

>>15713415
Why do you need salt on the outside of the potato, when it's the insides that need the salt after they are cooked? You do know you're supposed to cut the potato into quarters, Mash the potato a bit with a fork, add salt and mash it some more. You eat the skin with the potato. No need for it on the outside. That's just ridiculous and an excuse to use more KOSHER salt. The Js love people like you.

I'm good thanks. I use regular cheap salt and just cut it open with a knife. Less effort.
