I had them once as a pizza topping and was surprised how good they were. Probably even better on a salad now that I think about it so I'll have to try that.
On the other hand I once bought a tin of anchovies because work was getting pizza and the fatties all demanded meat lovers with no vegetables and anchovies were an absolute no.
The tinned anchovies were horrible. They tasted like pure bricks of salt with no other flavor.
TLDR: great from a restaurant, but the tinned version you get at the store are sodium bombs with no other flavor.

Anchovies are smaller and usually far saltier.

Yeah, for the record I did like the anchovies but I fucked up my ceasar salad, it's too salty to even eat. I got them on the side but when I liked them I dumped them all in. I fucked up.

Most people around here use an anchovy paste as a sauce additive, because they're afraid to dose tomatoes with a fish sauce and worcestershire is too peppery.
Given how many you're likely to use, look for a jarred anchovy. DO NOT DISCARD THE OIL. You really want a few drops of it in a sauce, or to boost a mayonnaise.

I'd go with a can like you pictured if I was making a tray of deviled eggs. In fact, I probably have one in the cupboard. Depends on the audience, of course - some people are put off by capers or anchovies, and want a little strip of crispy bacon on their deviled egg instead.

In something like a cesar salad, you maybe use 3 fillets per plate, plus a few drops of oil into the dressing.
