They look horrible and smell kinda weird, but they're really good. Try skinless & boneless deenz, like Season or Crown Prince brand.

Don't get me wrong; I got a pretty good handful of the delightful mwPolar Smoked Brisling Sardines in oil, but since the kids like the Brunswick Gourmet Sardine Fillets in tomato sauce with basil, I had no need to act like a greedy assface and incur dirty looks from the sweet old grandma types who were selecting their few luxury cans for the month.

Besides, I honestly prefer kipper snacks for regular days - grabbed a bunch of those. Those cleartop cans are just for weekend brunches.

The easiest way is to make sandwiches.

Two slices of lightly toasted bread - warmed through, beginning to crisp, barely colored, buttered - dump a can of midrange tomato sauce deenz on, and put the other toast on top.

Then you can't see it, but still be imbued with the rich savory flavor.
After that, you stop worrying about the appearance, and just crave that oily fishtaste.
