I think they are alright, the taste difference doesn't justify animal holocaust. I still eat fish though.

I had one for the first time a couple of days ago. They remind me of the taste of Cheez-It crackers minus the cheese powdering. They aren't terrible but regular beef is better.

As far as i know they make them on the same grill as the real meat ones, so that oil/fat flavor seeps into them. I wonder if that still counts for vegans or how that works.

Used to use Hungry Planet brand plant based meat at my old job. Never actually tried it on a burger, but the stuff was ok. The texture was passable, the flavour was somewhat off, but as a plant based alternative, it works. You can make it taste pretty good with additional spices, but it did tend to fall apart quite easily the more you fucked with. Deep fried it was very convincing.

Tried some of it raw once, it was fucking vile.
