That you think it tastes the same betrays your taste level and therefore completely obliterates the respectability of any opinion you may possess.

Hydrogenated oils are miles away from anything that can be considered food. Watch some college lectures on intro-level biochemistry and do not put them in your body

Margarine was literally invented to be a poverty slave food version of butter with no nutritional value. You're lying if you say it tastes the same. I can't lie it tastes better than nothing but nutrition is more important than saving a few dollars each month.

make your own butter, yogurt, kefir and buttermilk from milk and cream, and render lard, tallow, and schmaltz from animal fats. This will save you money and is fun and easy. Margarine and vegetable oils may be cheaper fats, but they have a lot less nutritional value(almost none) so you're better off spending your money off of something actually nourishing

That comparison sure seems fair and impartial

nah it wasnt for slaves. it was literally just cooperate greed with the bottom line being profit at any means necessary, even if it meant jeopardizing the health of their own customers by using misleading information

Though margarine actually used to be made with beef tallow. It wasn't until around the Victorian era that hydrogenated seed oils (primarily cottonseed oil) were added as a cheap filler.

What's kind of weird is that margarine today will actually sometimes contain milk, whey, lactose, or casein. Probably to make it taste less like shit.

Hydrogenated oils aren't "rancid". The metals used as a catalyst for hydrogenation are filtered out, and it's almost always nickel used which shouldn't cause much or any issue even if ingested, and if it is it's going to be infinitesimally small amounts. Hydrogenated oils don't contain trans fat, that's why they're hydrogenated. Only partially-hydrogenated oils contain trans fats. The rest of it sounds like unsourced Karen health blogging information.

Not to defend margarine, it's shit, but it really isn't "that" bad.

The less steps there are to fuck up food the better. This is also the reason that you should cook your own food, because every production step brings unnecessary risks.
Why eat same product that tastes worse and goes through unnatural processes that can go wrong?

>The mean concentrations of Cd(II), Pb(II), and Cu(II) in different types of margarines and butters varied from 9.1 to 26.2, 9.2-14.2, 298.2-364.0 microg x kg(-)(1), respectively, that is below the legal requirements.
This amount of heavy metals might as well be 0, anon. We're talking micrograms for every KILOGRAM of margine consumed. I doubt anyone even consumes a kilogram of fats in their lifetime.

You'd be surprised how many rancid nuts and seeds we eat. If you eat nuts that are already shelled, like walnuts and pecans, they are rancid. You can really taste the difference when you actually put the effort in and crack shell in nuts, already shelled nuts will taste kind of bitter. Nuts and seeds will quickly rot when cracked open. Its kind of like tearing a lobster or something open. It's gonna go bad really quick when exposed to the elements.

I don't trust them but that's how it's supposed to be made; I simply hope regulatory bodies do their jobs. I still feel it's disingenuous to claim things which are (or should be, at worst) false. Anyway yes, I agree, simpler is usually better.
