I built an outdoor kitchen last summer. My primary reason was so I had a place I could do wok cooking with a super high BTU source without getting grease splatter everywhere. I've since added a brick wood oven, a lower BTU gas burner, and a really nice work station i made that is half slate tile and half stainless on industrial rollers. You could butcher half a side of beef on the thing and it would be fine. I just wish i could run water without calling a plumber.
