Göteborgs Rapé recipe will be soon. Pic is kneading bag (I usually never knead, but I want to see how much of a difference it makes for repairing texture) and vodka extraction of macerated dry juniper berries, about 30g berries to 70g vodka.
Also ordered a shitload of stuff from Pöschl and some European twist tobacco (Oliver Twist, Grimm und Triepel) to try and reverse engineer.
GR looks like juniper, bergamot, and lavender in roughly equal amounts, along with a Virginia-forward base. It shouldn’t be that hard to get right.

>>15562885
Great pipe (very fond of the mainline MMs), and Royal Yacht is one of my favorite virginias. I wouldn’t have spent $30 on such a heavily cased tobacco, but it’s gotta be good considering the age.

You cannot be the best cook you can be without getting intimate with fine tobacco. It’s simply impossible. It’s an entire spectrum of flavors you are unaware about.

If you're combusting your shisha, you fucked up. There is no coming back if you burn the top of your bowl, the whole pack is going to taste burnt. You're trying to manage the heat to vaporize off the flavor and nicotine, without actually burning the leaves. HMDs(heat management devices) made this very easy. I've still got an original kaloud lotus from like 2012 I use. With the right coals and heat management, we're talking about 2-3 hour sessions on tangiers with thick clouds, great flavor, and zero harshness. If you're coughing, you're most likely burning your leaves. I don't think I even opened these drawers in 2020, but a little good shisha is always handy if you're having people over.

Azure is pretty good too. I'd rank everything Al Fakher, but their white grape and double apple pretty mid tier. Its all about finding the choice flavors of the brand. I think AF has like 10 different lines and formulas now. I'd stick with the new guys trifecta and azure. Coconut ginger and peppermint shake are GREAT from trifecta and the chai masala from azure is delish as well. Some lines like azure will have "gold" and "black" labels. Blacks are typically burly tobacco, will be a stronger nicotine buzz, and will take heat better. I'd stick with the lighter ones to sample desu. If you're wanting extremely wet modern shisha like starbuzz, the fumari pouches are your way to go.

That used to be all brass.

Few bucks cheaper, few inches shorter(literally doesn't matter).

I'd definitely rec picking up a harmony bowl (heavy clay, handmade, holds heats well without scorching) and a kaloud lotus. Makes shit way easier and you won't have to constantly worry about running out of foil. Poke around on that site, last think you want is a stupid looking hookah that sits in the corner mocking you.

Double Apple Hookah by Vape Juice Depot. Tastes just like the real deal. 3USD per 60ml - only goes up to 6mg nicotine though. It's my day vape.
All the other ''sweets/food'' flavors I've tried were shit and tasted artificial as fuck. This is classic hookah tobacco with a hint of apple.
The only other good worth mentioning where from Unicorn I think, their Menthol Lychee one.
It tastes crisp, fresh as in icy, but as well floral just like lychee.
All the rest goes in the trash.

Hold me guys. I had to quit smoking again because I have a bad habit of getting oral leukoplakia on the inside of my lips whenever I smoke for longer than two weeks, and the last time I started up again, it got really bad with a red sore developing on my lip. I quit straight away again (a pattern here, but I never had a sore before) and started healing it with vitamins and ointments. It's been about three weeks and the redness on my lips has faded, seems almost gone...
But goddamn if I am not addicted. I tried to counter that by getting cigarette holders to cool down the smoke, I even considered switching to a long pipe like a churchwarden but to no avail.
I don't do drugs, I don't drink alcohol (maybe a shot of vodka in a screwdriver about three times a year on special occasions). I have literally nothing left if not for my tobacco addiction.

I started when I was 15, a cig here and there, socially. Then by 18 I was up to a pack a day roughly. Kept that going till I was about 23-24, where the first signs of leukoplakia showed and it scared me straight. Stopped smoking for two years. Had a psychotic breakdown, started smoking again to medicate while at mental hospital. Got out, quit for another two more years. Covid hit and I started smoking again.
Rinse and repeat.
This time I know it's for good. I'm a fucking junkie, but the sight of that red sore on my lip just screamed cancer. I might even have it, even though the sore is gone. I'm stuck abroad right now and can't afford the medical expenses of cancer. It's a whole can of worms this situation.

tobacco was the only thing there for me in my hardest times. I feel robbed of my only ever vice.
Fuck this gay earth, honestly.
Now I'm vaping like a gaylord, but it just doesn't hit like the cigs do. Honestly if it was lung cancer I would have taken the L and kept on smoking but the idea of my lower lip rotting away for all to see...No thanks.

Have you tried nic salts? Especially in higher doses. Regardless of how juul devolved into the high school bathroom shitshow it was in the us, it got popular for a reason. And that reason is how accessible it was, but also how it replicated the nicotine effect with the low wattage yet high dose and the nic salts made that possible; e-juice above 16mg or so starts hitting your throat really fucking hard and nicotine benzoate eliminated that pain, allowing for more nicotine without using higher wattages to just vaporize more at a time.

Can we have some actual conversation?
Cigar bros, pick one absolute favorite luxury/super premium you've had? How much was it? Was it worth the price? Was it for an occasion or did you just feel like treating yourself the last time you had it?
Mine is the Diamond Crown Julius Caesar. The toro is $16, beautifully presented and the band is amazing. Creamy start with strong earth, coffee and leather adding later into the cigar. I think they're totally worth the price but I only get one on major holidays. Last I had one was a Christmas gift swap.

Made up that I could spread the word and that you got some reasonably priced tobacco. I feel bad that I don't buy tobacco from local or uk stores but the price difference between the uk and europe is huge.
I buy my pipes from local tobacconists.

I think you always have to be prepared to get caught by customs. So its a win if it gets through, but the same amount you would pay in the uk if you get pinched by customs.

What did you get yourself?
Last time I bought from Hacico I think I got rattrays marlin flake, Ascania VaPer, capstan blue and solani aged burley (found out I'm not a huge burley fan).

get into "premium" juices. you'll only pay a real premium for them if you buy them in a shop, but if you order them online from a company that manufacturers in your country it should be reasonable with reasonable shipping.

my favorites
Jam Monster
Milk Man
Candy King

highly, highly reccomend jam monster and milk man. If I showed any one of these tobacco guys itt those juices on a decent setup I could convert them. I've never had an experience like with those juices, milk man got the creamy richness of milk nailed so beautifully its scary. It really tastes like inhaling a big soft lightly warm creamy cloud of sweet milk based products.

Candy king is great but the thing about ultra sweet juices trying to mimic candy and soda and cocktails and shit is they become flavorless after a while and regardless of your setup youre gonna be changing coils / rewicking more frequently if youre using heavily sweetened juices. None the less its amazing on fresh cotton / in a fresh coil and if you switch it up every other day.

Jam monster isn't gonna be for everyone but just like milk man they really nailed the various jam and butter on toast flavors. It really is almost unsettling how accurate the flavors are.

also something worth mentioning, these premium brands of juice use only the highest quality ingredients. They're subjected to much more stringent regulations than a vape shop is because they're considered a tobacco product instead of a tobacco distributor, and being a branded product they take much more pride than your average shop owner. The entire experience is softer and smoother, thicker clouds that just feel better to inhale and carry way more flavor (im not talking about plumes of gay vapelord smoke, but denser thicker clouds that really do just feel more satisfying)

>>15603607
I haven't, but judging by the brand quality and the various accolades on their website they boast they definitely fit the mold of what I'm talking about. While only a full blown vapelord setup with a mod and RDA will do these kinds of juices their full justice, I don't even use one these days and they're still far superior to any house brand I've had even in my shitty little pocket sized ecig.

Because of the previous thread I actually went and purchased some tobacco online. It's not in yet.

I got the 4noggins beginner pack (Czech tool, pipe cleaners, 3 bags of tobacco samples), purchased some corncob pipes from Missouri Meerscham, and two clay pipes from Townsends, along with some storage tins and a tamper; I also got some beeline hemp wick because I want to light my cigars with something other than matches sometimes and it's pretty cheap for 200 feet.
Thank you for getting me into this. It's a nice way to celebrate my new life, I dumped the money I would have into scotch into this, and I drink too much already.
I got some Early Morning blend. I plan on getting Samuel Gawith's Virginia flake, Lane 1-Q, Amphora, some stuff by peter stokkebye. But I'm going to stick to a small number of blends so I can get used it at first. I've heard having too many makes comparison hard and that each cut and blend lights differently.

It felt more complex, not sweet but mellow in a still tasty way that worked well on my empty stomach.
It was worth the price to try something new. I still don't mind my Casa De Garcia cheaper cigars. I'll probably still smoke more Perdomo 10th anniversary cigars whenever I feel like blowing $10.

Filters do three things; one they do filter the smoke and remove some of the nastier things, two they can help to remove some condensation by being typically an absorbent material and three they block the passage so you don't get shreds of tobacco (very rare but does happen) coming int your mouth. I personally don't bother with them. Stingers are another 'filter' but are designed pretty much to condense water out of the bowl to prevent gurgling and such. I also remove them because I find they get blocked up very easily and make smoking harder.

Say I start smoking a cigar a day at 30 years old, after mostly not smoking before that. How likely is it to catch up with me before I die of something else? Rush Limbaugh started smoking cigarettes as a teen and then moved on to cigars, but I hear he was smoking like a box of cigars a day. He died at 70. I have pretty good willpower and think I could easily stick to one per day. But I'd rather not die young.

pipes and cigars are puffed, cigarettes are inhaled
the biggest differences are lung health, and how quickly the nicotine gets into your system

I've been trying 965 for a little while now. Not really my thing. It definitely tastes better after letting it sit around for a month or two but there's a certain sweetness to it that I'm not fond of.

smoking cigars aint gonna do shit unless you manage to get mouth cancer by some freak occurrence. you don't inhale cigar or pipe smoke which is where 99% of the damage comes from.

I've been using snus for a few months and I have a weird taste in my mouth even after brushing/using mouthwash and not having any snus for 12~ hours. Is this typical? I usually leave portions in for a few hours until the flavor is gone because I enjoy the taste, so I'm guessing my gums might've just absorbed too much sodium carbonate if this doesn't happen to everyone.

Also I wanted to take a tolerance break. Anyone know how long I should wait before trying it again? I was still able to feel the effects of my regular strength snus but I want a bit of a head rush again.

If there are any Europe or Asia residents in this thread, can you just recommend some cigarette brands? Last time I was in Switzerland, I only smoked Parisienne Jaune because I didn't know better.

Ill ask this here since I cant find a solid answer elsewhere online. Is it alright to smoke a pipe/cigar occasionally while pregnant? I ask because of that FDA study where cigars and especially pipes are significantly better for you than ciggies, and I think in some studies pipe smokers live longer than non smokers.

I don't think so. What might seem like a little nicotine to you is going to be a bigger dose to a fetus, and it seems like any amount of nicotine is going to cause changes in its brain.

>and I think in some studies pipe smokers live longer than non smokers.
Might be true because it helps relieve stress, just like some studies showing people who regularly drink small amounts of alcohol can live longer too. But that doesn't mean it's good for a developing child. Would probably be okay if you puffed on some kind of non-psychoactive herbal blend but any amount of real tobacco is probably not going to be good.

So even some aros with a really tiny amount of nicotine is still bad huh? I kinda figured cigars would be a bit much but maybe pipes would be different due to the lesser nicotine content. I usually smoke once a day and now its gonna suck ass for 9 months bros ;_;

It'll be pretty nice when you can smoke again though. After a few months your brain returns to baseline with tobacco. And if you can abstain until then I think it'd be more satisfying knowing you earned it.
