While pecan pie is a southern classic, it still salutes its superior officer the Derby pie.

I was unaware of the existence of this pie. Now I'll have to try make one at some point to try it for myself.

>> No.15529420

>>15528668
You can also find the recipe as "Kentucky Pie" or "May Day Pie", because the name "Derby Pie" is a trademark owned by Kern's Bakery. Every bakery in Kentucky still makes it, they just use the alternate names. Key concept here is pie crust, pecans or walnuts, dark chocolate, and bourbon. It's fantastic.

Tell me about it. How is the peanut butter used, mixed with cream?

>> No.15530957

>>15530929
The way I made it was using a mixture of peanut butter and cream cheese. It doesn't require any baking. It's a really creamy and satisfying pie, and if you like you can top it with chocolate chips or cream, or like in the picture I posted above.

I use Chef John's recipe when I make pecan pie and it comes out excellent, so I can recommend that one.

Are there also recipes where you have to bake or is peanut butter automatically no bake? I am not a fan of no bake stuff personally.
