You're telling me you have never marinated anything for more than a day?

>placebo leaf

If you boiled a leaf from any tree outside in a cup of water for 45 minutes, you'd be able to taste the difference from fresh water. That doesn't mean that you could tell a single bay leaf was added to a whole pot of soup or stew. I challenge anyone to a blind taste test to see if you can detect anything less than a fat handful of bay leaves in a pot of food.

like i said if braised/boiled 45 minutes or more I'd take you up on that wager and give you odds. Anything less than 45 min. and it would be a straight bet.

I love bay leaves. I put about 12 in my red beans when I cook them. Then I save them all in my leftovers.

I made a pizza out of crap I found in the fridge and pantry. Bay leaves ended up being one of the toppings. Pretty damn good. Rosemary matzoh bread was the crust.

>> No.15498176

if I add a bayleaf crushed up to packet mix pasta crap it tastes twice as good FACT

>> No.15498937

If you're using rosemary and thyme, there's almost no point, but if you need to add a bit of eucalyptus or bump up the oregano, a few of these suckers will help large.
