Kerrygold is like the gateway butter. If you had shit butter all your life and try Kerrygold, yeah it's going to blow your mind but it's not The Best butter, there's many more above Kerrygold but Kerrygold has a nice balance of quality to value. I've been used to garbage butter and fake butter all my life so when I tried Kerrygold the first time I was like "wtf?! This is butter?!" After that I went on an autistic butter tasting journey and realized some of those even better butters aren't worth their cost so this anon >>15346181 makes a good point, you get an incredible value from the generic version of "Irish Butter."

Anyways, has anyone tried Kerrygold's Garlic & Herb Butter? That stuff is sooo fkin good, I use it to baste steak after a nice pan sear for insane flavor or spread it on toast for instant garlic bread.

It was on sale for $1.50 a stick recently so I bought 2.

I fucking hate it. The garlic and herb flavor is just sooooo artificial tasting compared to making your own garlic/herb butter with standard kerrygold.

Maybe I'm biased because I have an herb garden and everything is fresh. But it's simply well beyond their premade garlic/herb shit I can never see myself buying it again.

The best butter is homemade cultured butter. It's super easy. Just add Greek yogurt or cultured buttermilk to some heavy whipping cream and wait for 2-7 days. Then, there's a few different methods to churn it into butter. I used a hand mixer before, but a food processor makes it ridiculously easy. Strain it, and knead the butter in cold water, changing it until the water doesn't become cloudy anymore. Add salt (optional) and now you have the best butter ever. Pic related, my butter.

Also europoors pretending kerrygold is standard butter is kinda funny. I've been to europe literally half a dozen times, longest time was for 3 months. Ive bought butter from stores in UK, France, and Germany. In ALL of these countries, kerrygold would be considered higher end butter, maybe not the HIGHEST end butter, but it's not the cheap stuff, and it's clearly a step above the "standard" cheap priced butters, especially in the UK.

I've had some cookies with a poor texture when using 60% butter, but 82-84% is generally fine for everything. 60% is really only for eating with bread. I got it out of curiosity, but it is not superior.

Who the hell even makes 60% butter?

80% is the minimum to be labeled butter in the US.

I think it's meant to be a low-calorie butter, similar to those butter spreads people get. It's fine on bread, but I wouldn't buy it again. It separates into milk and fat when melted then cooled. Perhaps the additional moisture could create more steam for baking pastry dough, but it's not something I've tried. I look for 100 or more calories per tablespoon for the best texture.

I honestly hope this is true because it's one of the cheapest butters I can buy locally. Actually all Irish butters are cheaper than locally produced butters near me which is pretty messed up when you think about it.

What is the appeal of buying nonhomogenized milk? It tastes like a giant mouthful of skim milk with some pieces of gunk floating on top.

This is reasonably easy to find too but I find it has limited uses due the culture, even for spreading.

ALL you have to do is get your plate you will be eating off of, take thin slices of the butter from the fridge and scrape them off along the edges of the plate and let them sit there while you prepare the meal, or a good ten minutes. it'll spread onto your toast just fine.

Compared to our typical butter it is. European style with the 2% extra butterfat is getting quite popular here.
