I made toasted baguettes topped with creme fraiche smoked salmon and fill and cracked pepper the other day. I left the bread in the oven too long and the toasted slices were hard as a brick. I had it on low though so they werent burned just way too dry. The creme fraiche moistened them perfectly. A little crunchy on the bottom and chewy on top.
