Decide what you’re going to do with it first. What fruit? How are you cooking it? How are you serving it? What are you shooting for? If it were me I would use a pear like your book, halved and cored, some bourbon, a splash of fireball, splash of sweet vermouth, 2 tsp of vanilla, maybe some cardamom or cumin, honey to taste. Mix all that in a pot bring it to really light simmer careful not to burn the alcohol off, add my pear halves to the hot liquid and pull it off the heat.
