1. why didnt you drink through this year?
2. when you will crack on your scotch bottles?

>>15273974
1. My grandad basically never drank, at least as long as anyone remembers (maybe a beer once every 3 years). Said he just didn't like it. Lived to 102. Still there mentally till 101. Built a wooden deck for his house at 87. Died beloved by the whole family.

Had an uncle also beloved by all. Died at 71. Mentally only half-there by 65. Quite weak and rickety by 55. He loved to drink. He was fun when he was drunk. But he'll never meet his grandkids.

I had been realizing I didn't actually like drinking beer other than the flavor and decided to test myself to see if I had the discipline to go for a year, was already kinda giving it up naturally, just not drinking much. Then on a whim I tried some scotch to see what the fuss was all about.

2. It'll be a year at midnight NYE but I'll probably go until the 3rd or 4th. Almost everyone I know is a drinker to some extent and they're gonna pressure me NYE more than anyone has all year. So I kinda want to resist that, because I drink when I want to, not when other people tell me to, even if they think they're doing it with affection. Besides I'm gonna be sharing expensive single malt with them all year so they'll forgive me.

>> No.15274172

>>15274107
based. dont listen to anyone and only follow your own intents, and againg based you've chosen single malt scotch because it's probably the only drink to appritiate and enjoy taste and flavore other than making yourself boozed (some rare and old rums and bourbons can do similar but over all 2 tiers down and with same attitude and quality and taste and flavore they cost way more). drinking responsibly a few dramms a week will bring no harm to your health but the hardest thing is to maintain this level of cunsumption, but I believe you're gonna make it bro.
>I'm gonna be sharing expensive single malt with them all year
meh, fuck them. good single malt is the drink for a one man only. cuz you can share some shitty blends and they wont spot the difference right away.

If you look at any flavour categorisations Clynleish 14 definitely falls into :
>Light-bodied, sweet, apéritif-style – with honey, floral, fruity and spicy notes, but rarely any smoky notes (BenRiach 12yo, Bruichladdich Laddie Classic, Glenfiddich 12yo, Glen Garioch Founder’s Reserve, Glenmorangie 10yo, Jura 10yo)
or
>Very light-bodied, sweet, apéritif-style – with malty, fruity and floral notes (e.g., Auchentoshan Classic/10yo, Cardhu 12yo, Dalwhinnie 15yo, Glen Grant 10yo, Tamdhu 10yo)

Even that retarded Diego chart with the non-continuous Y axis lists it as light and complex.

And there are some slightly more expensive, slightly higher abv whiskies like Benromach 10 and Benriach 10.
I haven't tasted Aultmore 12 and GlenAllachie 12 but I imagine they're just the same but at 46%, but at that point you can just pick up independent bottlings.

- Not boring and flavorless like typical noob Scotches (Glenmorangie, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Balvenie)

It's got enough going on to be interesting but not so much peat as to disgust a noob.

Pic looks like the Stolzle old fashioned glass. Smaller than a double old fashioned, nice if you want a stable glass with a heavier bottom, but don't necessarily want ice.

The modern whiskey market is saturated with NAS garbage, overpriced Islay memes, Japanese bottlings that are deliberately made for the collectors market, and rejigged triple-barrelled nonsense. Some of the sherry that is being produced now is incredibly undervalued and nuanced (pic related). Anyone with sense is buying up sherries right now. So many are fantastic value. ok so the anon in the last thread asked. I'm enjoying the Belle Meade I got from "Santa" and while it def has elements of typical Tennessee whisky it isn't gross jack slop.

that said I wouldn't recommend it for the 40-50$ MSRP. while it's good I can think of a half dozen better bottles in that price range. it claims to be high rye but I dunno if it's any better then your standard WT101. try it if you have the chance and give your own opinion.

Might post again when I'm further into the bottle and let you know if my opinion has evolved over the course of time.
