It's literal boomer food like spam, cube steak, aspid, and meatloaf. It was the best they could get when meat was so expensive that steak was considered a luxury item. Imagine a time when only big cities had delis and cold cuts in their grocery stores. Bacon was one of the only meats that would last.

What a fucking waste on those quads, like honestly. OP doesn't get the BLT?
OP must have gotten a floppy lettuce - white centered tomato slices, and microwaved bacon, sandwich.
The literal monstrosity you get from time to time at a place like McDonalds. And makes a vapid Americanized post.

Why are American's like this with food?

The thing they don't tell you is that the LT stands for Lettuce and Tomato. That's why it sucks. Just get a B next time and add some fried eggs and cheese. Thank me later.

You gotta use the right tomato. Most grocery store tomatoes are just straight up bad. Tomatoes are one food you're almost always better off going canned or growing at home.

Actually I'd argue the key ingredient is the tomato. And considering we're in winter where fresh vine-ripened summer tomatoes aren't available, that OP didn't have a very good first BLT is not surprising. OP probably went with watery beefsteaks, but you can make do with Roma or Cherry tomatoes however. Also the kind of mayo used is an oft-overlooked ingredient.

This man BLTs. The base flavor of the BLT should be derived from good, rich tomatoes and the interplay between the tomato and the mayo. 100% agree on the mayo, hell a ripe summer tomato and mayo sandwich at the peak of summer is unbeatable. Pinch of salt and pepper on the tomato, too. Bacon is essentially the accent. Then shredded iceburg for crunchy texture. Place on a nice butter toasted pullman.

Simple sandwiches like the BLT really suffer when any of the five ingredients(bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, bread) sucks.

Uh sweaty, you could go to you're local diner back between 1935-1960 and get a nice steak, eggs, toast, cup of coffee, and a nice cig to wash it all down for a NICKEL!. If you wanted to impress your number one gal and take her out for a night on the town and get a better steak dinner for two, it was maybe a quarter after tip. Nowadays, a fucking can of Spam is literally the cost of a half hour of labor at minimum wage.

OP here, I used and Heirloom tomato which was very soft and I think hampered my satisfaction.
Also, Is it better to use crispy or soft bacon? My Bacon wass very crispy

>> No.15210786

Fully crispy.
If it's soft, you end up biting in, the bacon doesn't get fully bitten through, and you have a big wormy bacon-tongue dangling out of your mouth.

I fucking love club sandwiches:
Slice of bread as base
>Mayo
>Turkey
>Bacon
>Lettuce
>Tomato
>Onion
Middle slice of bread
>Mayo, both sides
Top slice of bread
>Mayo
>Bacon and Turkey, maybe ham or chicken if I have a third meat
>Lettuce
>Tomato
>Onion
Makes for a massive sandwich just dripping in flavor.

Impossible as you would know if you had a garden. In the deep south, lettuce is a spring and fall crop. It goes to seed late spring, long before tomatoes begin to ripen. The south didn't have lettuce when fresh tomatoes were ripe. Get over it, snowflake, you lost!

It's not ideal, but if chopped to make a flat layer it'll work. You are trading quantity for residual quality to have good out-of-season produce.
