A pretty traditional Christmas dinner when I was young was a ham, potatoes roasted in the fat and drippings, green beans, glazed carrots, and buttered rolls. Not as big as our Thanksgiving spread, but we'd also do a LOT of snacking throughout the day. Christmas morning we'd make cinnamon pull apart bread, and in the early afternoon we'd do cream cheese (or peanut butter) on celery sticks, chipped beef rolls, lil' smokies, summer sausage, cheese and crackers, olives, pickles, deviled eggs, etc. There was always a lot of homemade Christmas candy too (chocolate coated mints, truffles, fudge, divinity, turtles, brickle).

In the UK we have Christmas Puddings. A suet and fruit pudding with brandy and spices. The alcohol content is high enough that you can light it on fire before eating it.

Traditionally you also mixed coins into the pudding and anyone who got one of them would receive good look. But that only worked with the older imperial coins, you can't use the new metric ones.

Yes. Typically from around the kidneys but maybe from other organs too. It's nearly flavourless but not quite. Think of it like lard in pastry; used more for its physical properties than the flavour itself. Most store-bought puddings use vegetable oils now. Probably because it's cheaper but possibly for the benefit of those with eating disorders.

Fuck no, Manischewitz is like drinking pure sugar disguised as wine, that shit is disgusting. I don't care how bitter the grapes you had to work with was, that doesn't excuse dumping 10 lbs of cane sugar into the barrel.
There's a lot of traditions I'll stick to purely for cultural reasons, but willingly giving myself diabetes isn't one of them. Some in my family do purely because "tradition" but I don't know anyone that actually LIKES the stuff.

In the southern states especially Georgia we make Pecan Pralines. My grandma would make them every year using nuts from her own trees. I would go to her house and use a rolly cage thing on a stick to quickly gather the pecans off the ground. She's passed on but my sisters and I still make them every year with our on variations
