That's how you make mustard gas! But seriously, if there's mold, throw it out. You can kill the mold itself, but it's not the mold that makes you sick, it's the toxins the mold poops out that gets you. Wiping and then burning the cigar might get rid of the mold, but not the toxins. I'm sure you'll tell me you're a big manly man and never get sick, but I'm saying this for the sick of the other anon, not a cheap bastard like yourself.

Most bourbon falls under the category of “good not great”. From Jim beam and Evan Williams up to Makers Mark, Bulleit, Wild Turkey, even Basil Hayden’s, there’s not a large gap in quality that would justify spending more and $25 a bottle.
Only small batch stuff in my experience has shown anything worth more investment and half the time the small batch stuff is shit. Most of it is literally Jim beam aged with some wood staves for a couple more years and isn’t as good as select batches of Jim Beam for the same price.
The real benefit of Kentucky Straight Bourbon is you know what you’re getting even if you get a bottle for $15. I’ve had several meme “bourbons” from other regions like TX or Oregon and it’s usually disgusting and twice the price.

Less of a burn on your gum, less “sharp” flavor, slower release of nicotine but often in much higher doses over time. Also nice to not have to spit often or work to keep the tobacco from spreading all over your mouth.
Dip gives a much stronger punch in the first 10 minutes but Snus will last an hour or more depending on the type and peak between 15-40 minutes.
The biggest reason to switch tho is the health effects. The theory is that steam pasteurized tobacco like snus doesn’t have as many carcinogens because certain toxic TSNA’s are actually made during the fermentation process. Pasteurization prevents the fermentation from occurring meaning far fewer carcinogenic compounds in the finished product. Plus it’s not burned so that’s another level of toxicity you avoid.

That’s probably enough to cause long term problems depending on your genetics. One of the things most people don’t know is that a lot of the cancer caused by things like smoking or drinking comes from the metabolic byproducts your body makes while breaking down tobacco smoke or alcohol. Depending on your genes, you may produce more or less of certain enzymes that cause these highly toxic metabolites to build up, or be efficiently disposed of and that’s mostly what determines your disease risk. That’s why some will smoke a pack a day for 40 years an never develop cancer or drink 8 drinks a day without cirrhosis while others will die young with half that consumption.

I'm the type to buy something cheap at first. I'll use it forever if possible. When it fails, and I want to continue using it, I do some reading on quality versions. Can you use a $5 gas station cigar cutter? Of course you can, and I have, and it worked for a while. But if it's a hobby I enjoy, like cigars, I'd rather get a nicer cutter that does a better job, is built better, and has a good warranty. The blades are sharper and of higher quality steel to retain their edge for longer, there's zero play whatsoever in the action, and the company will replace/repair/sharpen it for life. As for the brand itself, I couldn't care less. All I'm interested in is the function and durability of the cutter.

It's the same with socks. For years I wore whatever was cheap at Walmart. $10 for six pairs type. They were cheap. But they were also cheaply made, they wore through quickly, tore, often came with factory defects, and were made from the cheapest cotton possible. The socks I buy now are about $20 a pair. They're also merino wool rather than cotton, are made in America, are much thicker, and more comfortable, and come with a lifetime warranty. If I get mauled by a pitbull and he chews my sock in half, I can mail it back and they'll send me a brand new pair for as long as I live. Is $20 a lot for a pair of socks? To some people. If they are content with wearing cheaper socks, rock on. For me, they are worth the expense.

You get what you pay for.

I bought three different pipes from my local smoke shop (a cheap piece of shit corncob pipe, a cheap little silicone pipe, and a $5 metal pipe), and I got a few grams of the types of tobacco they have in big airtight containers on their counter. Sticking my face into the containers, they all smell really nice and plenty strong, but when I got home and packed them into any of the pipes, I tasted... Nothing. I just tasted smoke, and not even much of that. When I smoke a cigar or puff on my hookah I get plenty of flavor, but for some reason I can't taste a fucking thing out of these three pipes I got. I moved outta my mom's house about 15 years ago at this point. I started doing some light cigar smoking about a year and a half ago, and I made a point to always do it outside. Recently I just started smoking inside a bit because it's too god damned cold to sit and do nothing outside. The other day after I walked to the store to do a little grocery shopping, I opened the door to my apartment and walked face first into a flashback of me coming home from school to see my mom vacuuming the living room with the stereo blasting a Def Leppard album loud enough for the whole damn block to sing along.

I don't think I'll ever smoke outside again.

Here's a tip, when you order cigars online, don't smoke them for a week. Just keep them in your humidor to settle down and basically adjust to the local conditions. I find there's a large difference between cigars that I have on the day they arrive and even just the next day. I tend to wait for a week or so minimum and some people advocate a month or so. A lot of issues like poor burn, harshness and overwhelmingly single note flavours will vanish with resting.

On freefall they can fall as low as 19 for a 20 pack. Ive seen things like Nicaragua cream fall to 17, but I think one of the best freefalls was getting some cuba libre ones for about 26 a pack. Gotcha. If you're on CBid just spend some money buying cheap stuff for fun. A lot of it is garbage, but the thing about a shitty cigar is if you hate it, you don't feel bad about tossing them.

If you like strong maduro cigars, you can pretty often find Man of War cigars on the cheap on CBid. You shouldn't have to pay more than $2.50/cigar for them. Diesel often goes for cheap for some reason even though they're pretty damn decent.

You might wanna try to snag a few samplers too. You'll get a lot of hot garbage in them like Gurkha cigars, but some of the cigars will be pretty decent for the cost.

Found it. Yes, I know that the bowl isn't supposed to be coming out like that. One of the tobacco types I bought was really moist and it didn't burn for shit. I got frustrated and used my three-flame jet lighter on it and this happened.

I'm not sure where the corncob pipe went, and it's been more than a year since I last touched any of these. I only paid 88 cents for it and the corncob bowl moved around on the end of the stem really easy and the hole that the stem went through wasn't exactly airtight, so I probably tossed it at some point.

>> No.15213404

>>15213350
Go to your local cigar shop and buy a corncob pipe. Just say, "Hey do you guys sell corncob pipes? Odds are, they do and they'll be $10 max.

You'll also want a pipe multi-tool which they'll also sell. Don't pay more than $10 for your basic bitch pipe tool which will include a tamp, scoop, and a stem punch.

Lastly if they're a decent cigar shop they'll have bulk bins of pipe tobacco in the back. They're sold by the ounce typically. Go back there and open containers and give them a good smell. Buy a few ounces of whatever ones strike your fancy. Take those home and smoke them, keeping note of what you liked and disliked.

That's just about everything you need to know to try the hobby out. For $50 you'll get a corncob pipe that'll last you decades, a pipe tool, and several varieties of aromatic and english style tobaccos to try out.

Not him, but adding onto this: Anything Obsidian makes is gold in my book. White Noise being a personal favorite, it's my favorite all rounder cigar at (usually) under 40 a box on Cbid when they have them. Ave Marias are a delight when you can get them under $2 a stick, but with their marketing gimmick on the Divinias and the Reconquistas people usually overbid on them by quite a bit. Another great one (go on freefall exclusively for this) is most La Auroras. I got a box of belicoso 1495 for just under $40. Very pleasant, no draw or unraveling problems whatsoever.

A pretty large sample group sent in by some pretty big advocates of plume existing were tested and they were all mould. Not a single example of 'plume' tested has ever been anything other than mould. And if plume is so desireable, why don't cigar manufacturers try and engineer it and cultivate it on their own cigars? Imagine, already plumed cigars, crusty with the sweet flavour crystals you say they are. Right from the box. They'd look striking on shelves and if plume was real, they'd have greater flavour and show age and maturing beyond normal cigars. And yet, the cigar trade which does all sorts of crazy things to make their products stand out and get an edge and add value to the tabacco they make and sell has never done it. Why is that? Could it be that they know that plume is just mould?

Just stocked up on pipe tobacco from mainland Europe before brexit fucks everything up.
Feels good.

I love smoking my pipe all year round but it is nice to go for a walk in winter with a pipe or look outside over a stormy day while hjaving a smoke.

Eh, the cost of pipe tobacco isn't really that much better for me to bother buying from abroad. Cigars on the other hand... I currently have about 45 stocked up (been smoking them of course, had 53 to start with) but I'll wait and see if customs starts cracking down next year before ordering again.

I just meant dip is a small portion of the overall market with cigarettes still making up the overwhelming majority of it. And now having to compete with vapes along with snus being seen as a safer alternative, I think it's going to keep shrinking. So you're probably going to see a reduction of what's available without many new dip products coming out.

Yes. Switch to a pipe and/or cigars if you just like the taste of tobacco. If you want nicotine, then just vape.

I got a box of these and one with Göteborgs Rapé. So far I prefer the latter, it also hits a lot stronger, But both of them have a nice pleasant aroma, kind of like black tea. What flavors should I try next, I'm thinking the lime Göteborgs Rapé.

I also got a mint Nico no tobacco snus for free with my package, not a big fan of that one though.

General is .85% nicotine while Goteborg is 1% so it's slightly stronger. Oden's regular is .9% but some people say it's not great, haven't tried it myself though. Ettan is pretty good, tastes like unsweetened chocolate.

And seems like a lot of people say Kronan is bad but I actually like it, they say it tastes like pickles but I don't taste any dill in it like they claim. It has violet in it so if you like Goteborg which has lavender you might like Kronan.

Works out about 1/2 to 2/3rds the price of uk pipe tobacco.... and there's generally better choice.
The mark-up on Cigars in the uk is pretty horrific.

Ever try ordering from america to the uk? Tobacco is dirt cheap even if you take into account the postage. I heard that if you keep it under 200g you won't get bothered by customs
