Don't you wish your pantry was like this?

No. I see that much shelving, I think if endless dusting.

A sealed room like that full of survival foods would be nice, though.

Nah, too fiddly and impractical. I'm not going to waste time empting packets into glass jars or putting boxes into other boxes. I do have a pantry, but they are mostly in their original packaging, and only the small stuff is in drawers. I also built slopped shelves that my tins can roll along, so the oldest tins at one end of the shelf can just be picked up and be replaced by newer tins at the back.

No. That pantry has a number of issues.
1. Space not used efficiently -- containers are spaced out; efficiency was compromised for aesthetics.
2. The containers are not the right size. On the left, we see a bunch of container with cracker, cookies, cheez-its and other snacks. The containers should be different sizes proportional to the rate at which they are eaten. That'll be determined by people preferences e.g. I would that goldfish bowl of cheez-its in a single hour. Needs a big container...
3. Too many complete products and not enough preserved ingredients. I will not eat campbell horsepiss soup. You'd love this pantry op
4. This is the pantry of a plebian. Not a patrician.

>> No.15179397

>>15175494
The space is good. I don't think I would have the same types of food in there and it would be nice to have a space with a sink in it and cabinets to house appliances and serveware.

>> No.15179404

if it has a door (which it should because it's a pantry) it's not going to get very dusty because only rooms where people spend a lot of time get dusty because dust is human skin

That's at least a full box of cheez-its, dude. You really shouldn't eat an entire box of cheez-its in one sitting.

>> No.15179467

>>15175494
The real answer is eating that much canned food and dry goods will take a long time. The dry goods in particular will likely go stale and just because you can eat something from a 4 year old can doesn’t mean you should. Basically just shrink that down by two thirds and you have a reasonable amount of stuff.

>Supply chains are largely unaffected, its just demand is at a max

When demand outstrips supply then yes supply chains are disrupted because they cannot react to the market need. Those first few frenzied weeks of stupid people buying up what they did not need screwed over things for a lot of us and the only thing that brought back a semblance of normality to weekly food shopping was precisely that people calmed down. Supply chain capacity is only reasonable when demand in a specified period is reasonable.
