So I've finally noticed that the mega corps are bombarding us with ads about the next big thing: chicken sandwiches.

But why now? KFC, Popeyes, Burger King, etc. have all had these menu item for decades yet now they're peddling them as new. Did I miss something?

certain chicken chains have had massive hype in recent years and the other players are jealous.

probably has to do with supply, there's probably overstock of frozen chicken since they didn't take off as well as projected so they need to get rid of them or take a loss. Having worked in fast food that's just my guess.

I still prefer the overall flavor of a McDonald's buttermilk chicken sandwich to either Chick-Fil-A or Popeyes. Where it suffers though, is that the chicken they use is clearly inferior. It's thin and it's dry. If McDonald's just upped their game in that department (which is what they are doing) they will really outcompete both, at least as far as I'm concerned. I don't know what addictive substances McDonald's puts in their food, but I really prefer them over others.

Doesn't mean he (you) isn't late. Popeye's started memeing chicken sandwiches over a year ago. Just because the major chains took a while to adapt means nothing, the trend has been in effect since early 2019.

>> No.15166123

Oh and by the way, Wendy's existing sandwich was middling, but probably the best of non-chicken chains (excluding KFC, which is gutter-tier). They will struggle to differentiate their new offering. Meanwhile Burger King's existing sandwich was qualitatively marginally better than McDonald's, but it is extremely over seasoned. This makes it almost inedible. Their new sandwich could shine in comparison.

I tried the KFC "famous chicken sandwich", the spicy version, about a month ago and was surprised by how good it was. Last week I decided to try the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich.

It was honestly fucking amazing. The chicken was so crispy and it was much bigger than I expected.

Theres no chik-fil-a where I live, but between the 2 major chicken moguls Popeyes is the clear winner.

Chik-Fil-Gay being huge is a fairly recent phenomenon. While the other fast food giants were content to pump out shitty chicken patty sandwiches CFA went with whole breast pieces. More costly but a better product to be sure. Relatively though CFA was a small player until now and everyone else wants a piece of the pie. The cost/benefit analysis is done and people in fact will pay for a good quality product and not a shit one.

I know for me if I'm gonna eat unhealthy I'd rather have a primo chicken sandwich and not chicken giblets and assholes mushed into a patty

The Popeye's chicken sandwich is the only fast food that I can not resist since I've quit being a lardass. Luckily for me the nearest Popeye's is over a hundred miles away (and its a really shit Popeyes so half the time I'm in Missoula I fail to even stop there), so its at best a quarterly indulgence.

diary queen

Dairy queen has the best chicken sandwich. Unchanged for 30 plus years.

No joke. Try it. Get a blizzard or some other shake/ice cream with it. Alternate between the two. Perfect fast food meal.

Oddly enough the worst thing on Chick Fil A's entire menu is the chicken sandwich. They've been thoroughly beaten in that realm by Popeye's, Wendy's, Arby's and countless other regional chains.

But the rest of their menu is good, the service is 1950's tier and their fag hating years endeared them to millions.

Mcdonald's buttermilk chicken sandwich kinda sucks. The chicken is very thin and dry and it's just underwhelming. They had a really fucking good one, the "classic chicken" that was discontinued like a year or two ago. It had a good aioli and pickles and was, imo on par with Popeye's and chik fil a.
Wendy's chicken sandwiches, both the regular and spicy, literally taste like nothing. It's very strange and weirds me out. They just have no seasoning and the chicken is just tasteless. Fucking garbage.
Popeye's and chik fil a really have perfected the chicken sandwich.
