It is really easy to make disgusting pancakes at home. Have you tried pancakes from a place like ihop?

How did you have them? Restaurant-made? Made from a premade mix? Made from scratch? There's so many different kinds of pancakes. there's probably at least one that you like. My favorite pancakes are made with Krusteaz mix. I make the batter really watery and spread it thin on the pan, like ghetto crepes.

Also, I prefer maple-flavored corn syrup on regular pancakes, and maple syrup on heartier pancakes (buckwheat, whole wheat etc.)

I don't care much for plain white flour pancakes. I like ones made with whole wheat or oat flour, chopped nuts, and maybe some cinnamon or clove mixed in though. More texture and flavor and feels more satisfying to eat. Also helps to go light on the syrup, if you drown them in syrup to the point where they turn into mush it's gonna be gross.

I love normal pancakes with jam, nutella or ice cream, but I agree american pancakes are dry and cringe.

they can be great but most people suck at making them

I eat pancake every day, here's how I make them:

-a little bit of chocolate whey
-a little bit of oats
-a little bits of flour
-one egg
-some milk
-water
-some baking powder

blend all together, put the smallest amount of butter as to make it possible to turn it, and cook the giant pancake.

it taste like nothing, so i put a bit of honey and jam on top of it: it's fucking low in calories, and it fills you for an hour or two. Pro tips to cut weight

unpopular opinion: i like my pancakes just barely cooked. "Golden brown" like in the pic is wayyy overcooked, they need to be pale, with just a speckling of browning starting to happen. A good pancake should melt in your mouth, almost custardy once you start to chew it. Not undercooked or soggy, but taken off the heat as soon as it's no longer a liquid. Also NO SUGAR IN THE BATTER!
