So, I just bought this.

I don't think I have huge expectations for this. I'm a medical doctor which needs nutritious, healthy food quick. I also am radically changing my food habits, so I need low calorie food that is tasty enough to make me lose weight without struggling too much.

Did I do right? What I would use it for: beans-lentils soup, vegetarian soups, chicken (shredded especially looks nice), steamed vegetables. Not big on red meat but I'm not vegetarian/vegan.

It's going to get delivered soon and I have until 31 January to get a refund. But in the meanwhile, what can you tell me about it?
Thanks

you can make yogurt in it. yogurt is great for weight loss and you can use your yogurt in recipes as a replacement for sour cream or just eat it for the probiotics. I use mine to make soups and stews frequently, you can get inserts for it that you can use to steam vegetables too. You can absolutely make pulled chicken with it. You are going to use this thing at least three times a week.

Excellent for making rice, beans, any kind of stew. Can get an air fryer attachment to make the occasional fried food. Theyre pretty handy

Yup, bought a big steamer basket that should make bowls of vegetables easier.
Not big on the yogurt, i already buy some skyr that is pretty low calorie and tasty, no need to make yogurt by myself.
Do you steam vegetables bags right from frozen? Also, should be great for vegetarian chili, being european I never ate chili.

you did well.
i have a slow cooker and i typically load it up with the following:
dry beans (kidney, lima, garbanzo)
Oil (beans taste better with oil)
water
tomatoes
peppers (bell)
onion (whole)
garlic
spices (paprika, cayenne, black pep, bullion, basil, bay leaf, oregano, thyme, salt)
optional. i usually save my frozen chicken bones from other meals and throw them in there too.

i just add it all together and slow cook for ~10hours and it can be meal prepped for a week.
if you have a chipotle nearby you can get a double wrapped rice only burrito for $1.22 and bring your slowcooked chilli for a really cheap fulfilling meal

lol the picture doesn't look like much but its legit a good meal

you can but you have to add a minute to the cooking process. usually you steam vegetables fresh for 0 minutes on high pressure, i find it works better than the "steam" function. Skyr is awesome, it is hard to find plain here.

You mean "who needs." How the fuck am I supposed to believe you're a doctor if you can't even into basic grammar?

Oh sorry, english is not my first language, I've learned it playing videogames and watching TV shows. So it's kinda lacking.

That said, doctors are not supermen. I'm fat, I'm not that quick on the head neither. Just trying to fix myself

Sadly, although it does have the button, I hear instant pot sucks for slow cooking. In the crockpot the heat comes from all around, in the instant pot it comes from below only

Hey, no advice but just wanted to say good luck!

It's basically a slow cooker which is fast. If you've ever made anything in a crock pot before then you understand the recipe fundamentals.

It is not instant.

The people who really like them seem to be willing to do approximately 10 minutes of meal prep, then walk away for an hour while it cooks.
The time "saved" is the time you don't stand at the stove stirring or adjusting heat.
If you will not have the 10 minutes to prep, you can usually do it in advance - put your chopped food into a plastic bag or similar, refrigerate, dump bag contents into pot, then push button and walk away for an hour.

Slow cookers (crock pots) usually need 3 to 8 hours for most cooking. The results are broadly similar, but not equivalent. The "instant" 30-60 minutes is relative.

they are great for making squash and sweet potatoes. just cut them up, them place them in the instant pot on a vegetable Steamer to keep it off the bottom, add a bit of water, and walk away as it cooks. be sure not to overdo them.
