"Family size", lmao

>> No.15112388

>>15112379
fairly small amount of food for the average sized person, id say

>> No.15112406

>>15112388
two and a half pounds is just about enough for most people

>> No.15112441

I like when they put "Family Size" on the label, it lets me know to bring two beers to wash it down with instead of one

Does anyone cook this in the microwave? Is it any different than the oven? I never tried it because I don't want to keep my microwave on for 30 minutes.

>> No.15112606

>>15112379
Seriously, I can easily crush one of these by myself. Maybe if you're feeding three-four people and there's sides being cooked too.

>>15112583
I did last week, actually. There wasn't a huge difference. Also, if I recall correctly, this thing is like 18 minutes instead of 30.

is there any commonly sold frozen food that has instructions to microwave for longer than this?

I'm starting to wish I microwaved it now

All of the Stouffers large meals have microwave instructions. Even the "party size" enchiladas.

>> No.15112786

no, i've just looked and they switched all those to micro-bake with a few mins in a microwave and then finish 20-30 mins in the oven

Okay, but didn't they exist before? It's not often I make myself 16 frozen enchiladas.

You guys are just big fats. These things can easily feed 4 people, plus the idea is kind of that it's a single dinner serving being made for, well, a dinner. Probably with some kind of sides, salad, bread, whatever.

get michealangelo's instead. nothing frozen is going to be 10/10, but it's better.

I eat one meal a day, so that's why I can down a whole one with no big problems. I also doubt someone serving up frozen lasagna in the vast majority of cases is making bread, salad, or other sides to go along with it.

It all depends, obviously, but I doubt most of these are sold to anything but single dudes.

>> No.15112860

>>15112838

My mom used to do just that. The grocery store makes it easy to do so, buy some garlic bread and some canned vegetables and boom, you got a decent weeknight meal.

>> No.15112905

The bastards started making the personal sized ones too small for one meal and the family sized too big for one person. This is the world after 9/11.

You're right. I only ate half of it. It was too much for me, bros.

>> No.15113004

Yes, but note "family size" is advertising to mothers of families who cook dinner for said families, not lone bachelors who consider a whole lasagna their one meal for the day lol.

>> No.15113008

>>15112838
stouffer's just needs to come up with one that also includes frozen breadsticks and a frozen side salad

I've always thought these commercials were very funny.
>upper middle class home
>comfy ambiance
>attractive white people laughing having good time
>go into fancy dining room for main course
>woman of $1.4M house brings out a pan of Stouffer's lasagna
>everyone is incredibly excited to eat frozen food

>> No.15113051

>>15113008
Honestly, breadsticks would make sense.

>>15113004
I'm still saying, I don't think it's really family size. It's a very small portion of food unless people are eating three squares a day. It says 5 servings on the label, but as mentioned, single dudes can down this alone without much effort.

Cooking this for a family of four would probably send most people to bed hungry unless there were a lot of sides.

Unironically my family did this, my great grandmother was from Italy and made from scratch eggplant lasagna and my grandma did the same for a few years as well. Then her second husband started having her buy Costco lasagnas and make spaghetti sauce with ragu because it tastes "just as good".
You'd be surprised at how many well off people eat really shitty food simply because making the dish from scratch requires time.
