Not sure about diet drpepp since I don't normally buy it, but several areas have had a shortage of diet A&W rootbeer.

Not sure why it's diet drinks that specifically have issues right now.

No, what's probably happening is your store is using the COVID as an excuse that there's a shortage, and what they're really doing is trying to low-ball their purchase of some items, and if the manufacturer balks, the store says, "Welp, guess we'll tell our customers there's a shortage."

Kroger was doing this for Dr Pepper products and I called Dr Pepper and they said I should contact the bottling/distritubtion center in my very own town, and they told me what was what.

Your store may also be trying to push their own brand of product, taking away shelf space from other soda products.

I wouldn't think a popular soda such as Diet Dr. Pepper would be having a shortage. Some of the less popular sodas are hard to find. The companies are blaming it on a soda can shortage so they are focusing on the more popular stuff. I haven't been able to find Cherry Coke Zero in over 6 months and Diet Orange Crush was no where to be found until the last few weeks.
