guys i really want to like goat cheese but every time i eat it i gag. i feel like such a pussy.
to me it just tastes way too musky and goat-like for lack of a better term. i get a similar taste when i eat goat or lamb meat sometimes. just this very animalistic musky undertone that makes me gag. does anyone else experience this and is there any way i can condition myself to not react this way?

No, never. Have you tried a flavored goat cheese like pic related?

I'm with you all the way, OP. I love the most pungent cow cheeses like limburger and I love every blue cheese but goat cheese just tastes like it came out of a goat's rectum.

the thing about fresh goat cheese is it needs to be fresh. it's like mozzarella or ricotta in the sense that fresh or grocery store is like night and day, except that cow milk cheeses are at least inoffensive when they're old, whereas goat cheese you don't get the smell of nature anymore, you just get the smell of wet ass crack

raw fresh chevre from the market in france can't be beat, but such a thing is illegal in shartistan because of the Wisconsin cheese industry lobbying efforts. middle america was a mistake.

you're describing one of the most unique and desired flavors available and I'm jealous
crush some roasted almosts and roll it in it, will probably balance the taste for you
balsamic vinegar, fig, lavender, lemon juice
there's tons of preflavored varieties as well

Maybe you are indeed a pussy, still completely fucking dumb to try liking something you don't like for some stupid reason. Your post is incredibly fucking dumb.

I like the goat-like flavor. I like goat cheese, goat milk, and goat meat. Not sure what you expected. If you don't like it, why are you trying to force it? That said, you might try to find some recipes that use it in relatively small quantities to get yourself used to it in a more dilute context than eating a chunk straight out of the pack.

>trying to expand your palate is dumb
its annoying to me that there are entire dishes i cant enjoy just because of one ingredient. conceptually i have no issue with goat cheese. its good to always be trying new things imo
