"Chinese food" is the biggest misnomer in culinary history. First of all, if you're not talking about American "Chinese" food, then you have to be wayyyy more specific, since there are so many different regions of China and they all have wildly different cuisine. Shanghainese? Toisan? Cantonese?

American food exists because America was built on convenience due to the crazy hustle and bustle of its turn of the century. A lot of cuisines came here and were immediately circumcised, being tainted with said convenience, and also a dash of puritanism. As such, American "Chinese food" is devoid of any impressive texture or flavor or aroma, much like how a burger is necessarily lacking in complexity and relief (since it's fucking thrown together). The homogenization of food in America is truly appalling. I'm so glad to be a Canadian where we have cultural mosaics instead of melting pots, and I'm able to get some amazing food for a great price.

Went for a work potluck once and this guy from Bangladesh brought a dessert that was apparently a “delicacy”. It might have been good if only this guy knew what the fuck he was doing but it was basically whole wheat sliced bread drenched in milk, covered in cinnamon and had chunks of almond scattered around. Most millennial-minus chinese kids are just asian versions of their racial counterparts.

They brag about how that "fake" chinese food "white people eat" is disgusting and how good their deep fried chicken feet and intestines are. Yet, when shit hits the fan these cunts can't read the canto on the menu anyway and have to rely on their one friend who does. And come chinese new year when it comes time to make some dim sum style stuff, it's all just degenerate deep fried nonsense. Nothing to be proud of.

Westernized Chinese food is great because it doesn't pretend to be chinese food anymore. Half the prototypical recipes literally were made in the past few decades in Canada or USA. As for the "real" chinese food, it wouldn't be a denigration of character for an American to say they don't want to eat deep fried chicken feet. It's nothing special and is a cuisine literally borne out of poverty.
