open end sandwich

y/n?

>> No.14995033

I think it only works well with certain hot sandwiches. A Hot Brown, an open-faced patty melt with gravy, open faced roast beef, etc.

Looks good so far, now you just need to add the other slice of bread.

I almost always make open face, otherwise the bread:nonbread ratio is way off. And I'd prefer an open face to a massive stacked sandwich.

I really like open faced pbjs. Optimal pb to jelly to bread ratio and the jelly doesn't squirt like it sometimes does when you press down the top bread.

i do the same but with a banana instead of jelly

>> No.14995165

The bread that I like comes in huge, thick slices so I often make open-faced sandwiches because a full one would be too bready.

An open "sandwich" isn't a sandwich.

>sandwich
A sandwich is two pieces of bread with something sandwiched between them..
Isn't there a word in english for what you have in the pic? in Danish the word is literally "mad" = "food". So that thing in your pic is "a food". Like gohan (cooked rice/food) in Japanese.

And then of course there is smørrebrød

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandwich
>The sandwich is named after John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, an eighteenth-century English aristocrat. It is said that he ordered his valet to bring him meat tucked between two pieces of bread.[6][7] It is commonly said that Lord Sandwich was fond of this form of food because it allowed him to continue playing cards, particularly cribbage, while eating, without using a fork, and without getting his cards greasy from eating meat with his bare hands.

Cambridge Dictionary
>noun
>two pieces of bread with cheese, salad, or meat, usually cold, between them :
>verb
>to put something or someone in a small space between two other, usually bigger, things or people

Just putting stuff on top of bread doesn't "sandwich" anything, and it doesn't serve the same function as a sandwich, that being that you can eat it cleanly without needing cutlery.

why do nips eat raw egg

>> No.14995497

>>14995346
open sandwiches (smorrebrod) came with the tradition of rye bread.

You can put allot og shit on it, because of the heavy rye bread.

For practical reasons when used in lunch box you would make (klapsammenmad) where you make it as a traditional sandwich, with rye bread. Roughly translated as smacktogetherfood.

No, God damnit! Canapes are smaller and handy. You get them at a conference, during a pause at the opera or as snacks after a business dinner when people should still hang out and have some drinks until late.
