There’s quite nothing like waking up on a cold and rainy Saturday morning and making yourself a big, thick slice of toasted Panettone™ that warms you as you eat it with a cappuccino.

The smell is incredible, the kitchen gets filled by a subtle smell of orange zest that is released in your mouth by the browned bits of Panettone™ where the Maillard reaction happened.

And you? How do you eat your panettone anon?

Look at this, isn’t it beautiful?

You can pour some Grand Marnier or any other orange liquor on it to boost the orange note that is naturally part of this elegant yet hearty sweet.

Toasted, grilled...it doesn’t matter, be only sure not to fall for the French toast meme because it’s trash and panettone is not suitable for it. Use pandoro instead.

Nope I’m in Italy and I bought from my usual stores.

If you’re in the US you can buy from here:

1) https://www.eataly.com/us_en/sweets/panettone-pandoro

2) https://www.igourmet.com/collections/pannetone

3) https://chefshop.com/mobile/Search.aspx?k=Panettone

They’re stocking on new panettone “models” especially on Eataly the more we get closer to Christmas so expect to see more brands.

Avoid Amazon.

>> No.14955366

how does the LIDL panettone compare?

>> No.14955382

>>14955353
You can eat them outside the box as they are. Cut a slice and enjoy it alone, toasted, with a cream of your choice (we use mascarpone cream which is the base cream for making tiramisú) and or by drinking a coffee/cappuccino/liquorous wine among. Hell even a chocolate or milk stout would work too.

The choice brands depends from where you live and order, but if you’re in US I’d say stick with these ones: Baladin (it’s rare but last year it was on Eataly), Le Tre Marie, Albertengo and generally the ones you can find on Eataly website.

Avoid: any fake Italian panettone on Amazon and supermarkets, Bauli and all these ultra cheap store panettone with low prices for 1 kg / 2.2 lbs of weight.

If you Americans can provide us with links for other stores that sell you panettone / pandoro I can suggest you.

If it’s the one branded “Favorina” then it’s not good, avoid.

Supermarket panettone costs like 2-3€ which is unbelievably low.

>> No.14955440

>>14955389
The ones on Eataly are fairly good (Vergani, Bonifanti) but I suggest you to wait for the other ones to be added to the shop.

I’d suggest you to look for the Baladin with or without candied fruit, it’s really good and balanced, also it has a distinctive taste that is very nice.
