What do Plantains taste like? I thought they were just bananas but apparently not.

Sweeter in some ways, but also sort of unripe. It’s pretty similar in flavour, ultimately. Their taste is to bananas what parsnips are to carrots. Pretty close, but it tastes sort of wrong somehow. “Unripe” is the best way I can think to explain it.

If you wait until they actually start turning yellow/black, but green ones are kind of like a mild potato I guess. That's probably why even ripe ones are cooked though because it intensifies the flavor and sweetness and they're pretty good like that.

They taste like chikun, haha j/k try them out, Brasilian restraurants have them and there are these bagged ones from corner stores in the US. They're not expensive so its best to just try them out.

They literally are just bananas. Starchy bananas that are better cooked than eaten raw.

They taste starchy, like a rutabega and a potato hybrid with the texture of an unripe banana.

You should wait for them to be really mature, almost black. It's tastier, sweeter, softer, like these, the ones in your Pic were fried probably when the platain was yellow.

I mean ripe whatever.

Also when they are green you can smash them and do tostones, these go well with fish.

Like a mixture between potato and banana with a little aspect of courgette flesh to it
I really like them when I’ve gone to places where they’re common but I’ve never seen them for sale in bongland
