Learn to fry an egg first. Also, rice in a pot. Just keep a timer on hand and measure everything out right and you'll fare decently.

When you get psst that hurdle, this channel has quite a bit of handy and easy recipes for beginners. Once you get the hang of some of these, then check out Chef John from FOOOooooOooOoOd Wishes dot com.

Chicken breasts are pretty easy.
Rice and carrots along side.

Slice chicken breasts into strips about as wide as your thumb.
Marinate in a zippy bag. Put strips in bag, add a shot of soy sauce, a shot of tequila, a shot of lime juice, and half a shot of hot sauce (tabasco, trappey's, red devil are all good choices). Squeeze out air, zippy the bag closed, set on a plate or bowl in the fridge. (The plate or bowl keeps the fridge rack from popping the bag and making a mess.) Let it sit in there for at least 30 minutes, up to 6 hours.

If you have a rice cooker, use it.
You don't. Use a pot; 2 or 3 quart saucepan with a lid.
1 cup of regular rice in ("enriched long grain" is fine; jasmine is fine; minute rice is not). 2 cups of water in. Add a pinch of salt (3 shakes of a salt shaker). Add a bay leaf. Put the heat on high until it boils (big bubbles). Once it boils, turn the heat down as far as you can, put the cover on it (use a plate if no cover). Wait 10 minutes. Turn the heat off. Wait 10 more minutes. Remove cover, remove bay leaf. "Fluff" the rice with a paddle or fork. Stir in butter if you like that.

Peel and slice carrots. Get a frying pan (10 or 12 inch), add a splash of oil. Heat on medium. Once the oil changes texture, put the carrots in. Shake that salt shaker 3 times. Stir the carrots about once a minute for 8 minutes. Poke a carrot with a fork; it should feel tender and cooked. Let them cook another minute if they still feel hard and raw. Remove carrots to a bowl.

Get the chicken. Put another splash of oil in the frying pan. Drain about 2/3rds of the marinade liquid; discard liquid. Put the chicken and remaining liquid into the frying pan. Stir about once a minute for 12 minutes. Make sure to turn the chicken each time so a raw side is down. At the end, cut one open... should look cooked.

Turn off stove. Figure out how to dish it up; probably a bowl, rice, then carrots, then chicken.

Learn the basics of cooking skill is there's only a few you really need to know and learn to cook well and just follow recipes.
Sear meat.
Bring to boil then simmer.
Fry.
Shallow fry.
Deep fry
Brown.
Boil.
Salt To remove water.
Bake.

Just look up how to do each one and then when you follow the recipe you know what to do.

Like if it says sear the meat till brown then remove add vegetables and brown them and then add wine to deglaze then add broth/stock and add meat back in then simmer for 30 minutes you know how to do every little unsaid step.

It would be heat pan till very hot and check with water if it glides over to tell if you don't know.
Add salt to meat
Add oil to pan
Add meat to pan and wait till brown then flip and brown other side.
Remove and add more oil
Add vegetables to pan and salt so the water comes out faster that will help brown it.
Then stir it so it doesn't burn
When its brown enough deglaze the pan by pouring wine in and scraping the brown bits of the bottom.
Once the alcohols evaporated and you scrape it down add stock.
Then add meat back to its under or almost all under the liquid.
Bring to a boil.
Then turn down the heat and simmer it or you burn the bottom.
Check every 10 minutes and give it a stir to check the bottom if its dry add more water.
When done check for salt
Also salt less than you need to when you do the meat and vegetables because you can add more at the end
Thats a lot longer but it's much more detailed if you don't know shit.
