Are they all ripe? If you have some underripe ones you could bread them and fry them or pickle them. Could chop them up and use them to make a chutney. Might be good for a tomato stew to have with grilled cheese or something. Or you could juice them and just drink the juice.

You can make chutneys or tomato jam. Then can or freeze that stuff. Use them in all kinds of dishes. Look into indian recipes, they use lots of veggies.
You can also pickle them in various ways.

Instead of raw with just salt, add pepper and olive oil too.
Also diced with onions, avocado, cucumber, olive oil/lime juice salt and pepper for great salad.

Blend with chilies to make your own salsas.

Can't really do tomatoes in small vessels.
You can do a kinda raised bed type of situation in 5 gal buckets, if you cut the bottoms off the buckets and immerse them in the dirt a few inches. They need drainage.

What's tomato with you?

>> No.14830946

Here’s a good recipe for a tomato soup that’s much better than normal boring tomato soup
What you need:
>2 large potato
>1 onion
>1 huge carrot or 2 large carrot
>2-6 garlic cloves (I like garlic)
>mushrooms if desired (however much you want big boy)
>any peppers you want for spice (use bell pepper if u can’t handle spice)
>tomatillos (if desired)
>2 cup tomato paste
>1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, or red wine (your choice)
>some oregano, sage, salt, pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if you don’t like regular peppers)
>cooking oil (a few tablespoons of butter, olive oil, etc)
>about 1-2 cups of water or stock
For absolute speds:
>2 pots preferably, one will work
>a knife
>a cutting board
>a spatula (plastic preferably)
>watch a video of how to cut things on YouTube

>mash your tomaters into 2 cups paste
>chop your onions, peppers, carrots, potatoes, etc into whatever size you want, smaller is easier to cook evenly so dicing is recommended
>throw your potato and carrots into one pot with 1 cup water, boil these fuckers for about 15 minutes because they are cunts and will not cook right otherwise
>in the other pot, melt some butter or warm oil
>add onion, cook for about 10-20 minutes until browned
>add peppers, mushrooms, whatever other vegetables are left into the pot
>you should also add the herbs into the pot, oregano and sage
>check the potatoes and carrots, if they are too soft and will get mashed going into the pot leave them be, if they are still semi-hard add them to the pot after draining stock/water (but keep the stock/water)
>cook the veggies for about 5 minutes until they are browned
>add potatoes and carrots if not yet added, add tomato paste, MIX add stock/water until consistency is good (mix while doing)
>heat this for a while, about 10-15 minutes probably until everything is cooked, once it’s bubbling turn the heat down so it simmers
>season with salt, pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper to taste

>> No.14830953

>>14830946
Oh fuck I forgot one step
After you’re done browning the onions
>add 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, or red wine to deglaze (this means scrape the bottom of the pan if you browned the onions properly it’ll be obvious)

There is a nearly infinite amount of things you can do with tomatoes. They’re a fruit, so anything you would do with any other fruit, you can do with a tomato. Be creative and experiment, the best time do so is when you have a surplus.

I've learned that regular tomatoes aren't worth growing for me. They get swamped by thrips and bacterial spot, so I'd have to spray like supermarket tomatoes, which defeats the purpose.
On the other hand, cherry and grape tomato's grow like fucking weeds and put out so much fruit.
By the end of the season last year, I was bringing out the watering can to rinse the 50 cherry tomatoes I was about to eat in the garden moreso than watering the other varieties.
