I love mushrooms so much. Lets talk about mushrooms and how the enhance literally every single dish out there. You could fucking slice them up and turn them into cereal and they would still be great.

Tomorrow for dinner, I plan on having mushrooms fried with soy sauce and teriyaki tofu

Mushrooms have an interesting flavor, unlike anything. This is because it's a fungus, a living creature that is neither plant nor animal, hypothesized to have even come from outer space. Funnily enough, the flavor that most resembles mushrooms is the human anus.

Alright, bare with me here for a second.

I grew up not liking mushrooms and I associate that with the fact my mom would always cook with canned ones, so when I think of mushrooms now, I think of slimy, flavorless, and chewy little fungi.

Any dishes you would recommend that would be a good introduction to them? I don't like the idea of closing myself out to a type of food I always hear people rave about.

What, no rice?

Why are dehydrated shiitake so good? Don't get me wrong, fresh is better. But theres something about the dehydrated ones.

Next time you make a nice winter stew, throw some mushrooms in there. Leave them whole, so that you can remove them if you still don't like them, without ruining the stew.

Button mushrooms fried with salt go well with almost anything as a side, make sure to almost crisp them up.
Another is fried chanterelles in butter with bacon bits on a toast with parsley, don't crisp these ones, heavenly.

Depends on the shroom I guess? Some absorb some harmful substances from the earth they grow in, but most you can buy commercially don't have that problem. It's more an issue of shrooms not fitting into some dishes, but if you like it, go ahead champ.

The produce place near me always has very fresh champignon for 2.99/lb, so I use them in everything, especially roasted. Sometimes I add porcini mushroom powder for extra flavor in dishes.

As the other anon said, not unless they are contaminated or you use poisonous mushrooms. Mushrooms are a very healthy food.
