Is it frowned upon to bring your own condiments into a restaurant, for example if they only have Tabasco and I refer Franks etc...

>> No.14800735

>>14800701
Condiments no. Condoms yes.

>> No.14800739

I've done this to get around corkage fees. Order something really cheap, pour out whatever condiment they give you in a ramekin/dish, fill the ramekin with wine, dip appetizer or pour some over salad. You can't charge corkage for a condiment. Be sure to tip well though or they will hate you. Still, a few extra bones in the tip column saves you a shit ton on corkage over the year.

corkage fee is when you bring your own bottle of wine to a restaurant and they charge you a fee because they are "missing out on a wine sale" I have been doing this condiment loophole since around 2015, I always dress properly because if you do that in casual clothes they will think you are broke and not want your business.

It depends on the restaurant.
A number of diners I go to have splendid pancakes and lousy syrup; they have no objection to me bringing in a bottle of my own maple that I cooked on the family woods.

As for the Franks/Tabasco thing... you're being a pussy, but anyplace that has Tabasco isn't going to fuss over your own personal bottle.

You've lost the thread here, which I shouldn't be surprised by considering your a dumb faggot. Corkage fee exists to mitigate cheap jews like yourself who walk into a restaurant with your own wine. Idk maybe you watched that Somm documentary and thought people couldn't enjoy something as simple as a glass of wine without professional help at beyond professional pay rates. Move to Pennsylvania. Their fucked up booze laws have led to an unusual ecosystem of byob places. It was almost enough to make up for the terrible PLCB.

In my experience, most restaurants don’t have corkage fees because most just outright forbid you to bring in your own beverages. They also don’t like you to bring in your own food. Condiments are an interesting exception and this thread could have been interesting if you two faggots hadn’t derailed it for your stupid pissing match.

Corkage is an artifact of the subsidies that drinkers pay to non-drinkers in restaurants. In a fair world, food would be a lot more expensive and restaurants wouldn’t get stressed out about making it back on drinks. It’s a dumb system, much like tipping, but, much like tipping, it isn’t going away.

This is the first time I’ve heard about corkage but as a (((law student))) it’s really interesting to have wine potentially ruled as a condiment. If you are allowed to bring a condiment with no “corkage” and it’s possible to consider wine a condiment then what’s the issue? Nobody’s going to stop you from taking a sip of hot sauce if you really want to. Do restaurants draw the line at package volume? Are we really going to have private police/military in each restaurant group enforcing this condiment clause?

What are you saucing here in this restaurant, anon? That might matter.
Just pull out your little leakproof condiment container discreetly, and I wouldn't announce it or show it until after your food has arrived. This wouldn't be the time or place to decline a dressing or sauce they offer but ask for it on the side or unsauced, make no big announcement like "no sauce ma'am cause I always bring my own, as yours sucks...."
If waitress comes back to your table, sees it, asks about it, you say "oh, that, it's because I am watching my salt/sugar, it's my homemade mix from something I made last night and/or I just wanted to finish it today because it was so damn good" or some random non argumentative reason which wouldn't offend their choices.
Almost all the major brands sell packets of their stuff for food service reasons, incl Tabasco. Just buy it one time, toss it in a drawer and use those instead.

My nigger, you're entering their property and consenting to their rules. Even if they're (the rules) ridiculous, the owners of property are the absolute monarchs over their property (or they should be, ethically speaking). If they ask you to eat a literal turd before you're allowed to dine at their restaurant, that is their right, the same way you have the right to discriminate who is let in your house. I could get into the nuances of implicit consent/explicit dissent but that is out of the scope of this argument and off topic for this board.
