And then I put the white meat parts in the slow cooker-- with the first batch of broth.

Then I started sauteing this onion in butter while I chopped up his carrot, celery, and potato friends.

Then I chopped up the onion, sauted everyone in half buttery oil, poured everything in the slow cooker, and started a new batch of broth with the bones.

QUESTION: How long should I leave everything in the slow cooker on high before dinner? I'm planning to keep adding more broth all weekend. I have bullion in case the bones get used up.

what are you trying to do exactly?

Trying to devise a way where I can leave chicken soup in the slow cooker overnight without running out of broth and turning it into thick stew

>> No.14792077

>>14791959
why don't you just add water instead of broth if it'll just reduce all night

>> No.14792089

You can as long as you want, though at the length you're suggesting, tasting for flavor is as good a way as you'll find to decide on an ending.

I'm adding the water to the bones, boiling, then adding to the slow cooker

I would leave it on low, overnight.

Let the slow cooker do the work. Put everything in there, add water to cover, then turn on low and let it sit 24 hrs. With the lid on.

The meat is already done, so maybe 1-2 hours.

>>14791959
Oh. Cook just the bones on low overnight with the lid on. Raw chicken meat will probably need about 6 hours to cook on low, 4 on high; if the meat is precooked then just give it 1 or 2 on low so the flavors can develop. If you end up with a layer of fat on top, which I suspect you will, save it as a cooking oil for other dishes; this is by far the most important part.

I ended up taking a bowl, grilling myself a cheese, and putting it on low overnight. Will probly eat again in 10ish hours.
