14778914 No.14778914 [Reply] [Original]

My grandfather collapsed earlier today, dead. He was 94. I had just purchased a tablet I was going to send to him so he could video chat with the family.
Anyway, he was an unapologetic chocoholic, so please post your favorite chocolates in his honor.
Just recently I bought a box of Lindt truffles so I'm gonna hit em hard today.

In the summer whenever we'd get stuff for smores he'd skip the Graham crackers and marshmallows and go straight for the hershey bars.

94 is a good old age. Collapse is a good way to go, as opposed to how my mother lingered with liver cancer for two heinous years....

I wish you peace, many good chocolates and fond memories of your grandfather living a good, long life. It's obviously in your genes too, so you might get to 94 as well

There's a shop near me that makes chocolate bread. I was planning to buy a loaf tomorrow to pack with the tablet I was sending him.
My sister thinks chocolate bread is disgusting, but she's wrong and I think grandpa would have appreciated it.

Here is the finest ruby chocolate (a personal favorite) in your honor

This reminded me of a giant Toblerone I saw for sale on a ship. I think it was 60 Euros, but it was more than a decade ago.

It has a slightly fruity/sour taste but it's actually a bit of a trick. They do process it slightly differently, but also add some citric acid while doing so. The slight tang, colour, and subtle smell make it a bit like if milk chocolate and raspberry were mixed together, imo. Unless you try it from a Kit-Kat bar or something, though, it's generally overpriced at the moment, and despite attempts to market it as the 4th chocolate it's not doing too well so it might be pricey or obscure for quite a while. You can get big bags of it to use as cooking chocolate (or just eat) from the makers website, if you like it enough.

For me its the Lindt white chocolate truffles, fake chocolate or not. But the texture of all those are godlike regardless. Sorry for your loss, but at least he had a good long run.

Never had a Toblerone that big, but I've had the half pound Reese's cups and the slice and share snickers.
