Very hard to find gooey cheeses in Australia (no such thing as "American cheese" here) so I had to settle on Kraft singles, which you can now get here and are close enough

What I mean is the ubiquitous Australian cheese is tasty cheese, which doesn't really melt like the cheese in the OP. The ubiquitous American cheese however melts into a nice glue that holds food together. You don't have to go find some fantsy pance brie or soft gruyere just to make a fucking toastie cheese sandwich.

But, now that Kraft and Devondale etc have cheese singles available it's pretty close to cheap American cheese and does the trick
